3rd gen suspension on 2nd gen

i have a 2008 trd sport in need of new suspension. i have a buddy who bought a 2018 trd off road and had full suspension installed straight out the deal. suspension has a whooping 30miles on it and got them for a great price of $free.99. he gave me front struts and upper control arms along with rear shocks. he claims all will bolt on but for confirmation will the 2018 bilstien struts and upper arms bolt right up to my 2008? or will i need to do some modding/ part purchasing before i swap the suspension? thanks for your input.

 

Will bolt right up. I suggest a six pack of the good stuff for your friend.

 

Everything bolts right up. Only change in the front suspension is the lower control arms being different on the 3rd gen, but it doesnt effect the fitment of the front coilover.

 

took him out for a good night of bar hoping this last Saturday, the hangover predicts he had a good time. lol

 

heard it also results in a 1" lift?

 

will i need to do a wheel alignment after?

 

Most definitely

 

It will provide about an inch of lift from a stock height Tacoma, yours may have sagged if it’s still on the stock stuff. Yea to an alignment but you can use the stock upper arms and not need to purchase aftermarket ones. It does ride a little stiffer than stock, but it’s actually nice compared to the original suspension. I did this same swap on a 2012 I traded in, took off my offroad suspension with 200 miles on it and put it all on the 12.

Everything should be fine. I also have a 2008 but its a TRD Off-Road. I have changed the front and rear shocks with new 3rd gen shocks. Everything is the same. Although you will get a 1" lift in the front though.

 

I found a suspension from a 2017 TRD and was looking to put them on my 2015. What would be a good price for them? Seller claims they have 11k miles in them

everything that ive seen online they are usually asking around $200-$250. but like mentioned above low offer and work from there.

 

Hey all. I am brand new to TW, and and have the opportunity to buy a 3rd gen TRD offroad suspension- coilovers, rear shocks, and UCAs. Do any of you know if these will fit my 2007 TRD Sport, or how much modification is needed?

just did this to my 06 PreRunner a couple of weeks ago. 3rd gen front shocks & springs, UCAs, and rear shocks. Got new LCAs from McGeorge Toyota and sway bar end links and tie rod ends from Autozone. Easy project overall.
