I put these tires on my daughters 2012 Tacoma because she likes the off road look but travels almost exclusively on paved roads. I went to check the pressure when I did the brakes and saw that the max pressure is shown at 80psi on the sidewall. Did a bunch of searches and called Costco (who installed them) to find the optimum cruising pressure and have gotten quite a few different answers. Most , but not nearly all, fall between 30-40. Looking for a definitive answer if there is one. Thanks for your collective help.

When computing the minimum cold inflation pressure, you typically want the replacement tires filled to the pressure that matches the load carrying capacity of the O.E. tires at placard pressure. This is determined using load inflations tables.

What size tires came factory on the Tacoma and what size LR-E BFG T/A KO2 tires are you running? I'm happy to look into this deeper for you.

LT245/75R16 now and I couldn't say about the originals. They were stock on the Tacoma standard cab 4WD. Thanks for your help!

if you want a definitive answer for pavement usage, that can be gained from the chalk test. do you know it? takes a few minutes and you will see clearly the contact patch and any [un]evenness. i run E tires, and i found the chalk test lead me to 30psi front and 28psi rear. i run light and my E tires are a smaller size so they are very firm and can handle low psi. it will be different with different load ratings and truck weights.

Thank you for the details! The O.E. tire size can be found on the door placard, which is typically located on the driver's side door jamb.

245/75R-16 is an O.E. option, so chances are that's what came on her Tacoma. Assuming that is the case, the minimum cold inflation pressure to meet the O.E. load carrying capacity for the LT245/75R-16 LR-E KO2 is 36 PSI.

    Hi, strictlys-

    We're happy to help!

The minimum cold inflation pressure to meet the O.E. load carrying capacity for the LT285/70R-17 LR-C (116) KO2 is 35 PSI.
