I have to think that some aftermarket glass is less brittle and susceptible to damage than the OEM ones... I am now on windshield #4 in just over 2 years. Driving the same roads I always have... which have resulted in me having to replace exactly one other windshield in the preceding 20 years of driving...

All mine have been Toyota glass - the next time it happens (and it will happen...) I will be replacing with something aftermarket in hopes its not so weak...

I never have gone OEM, always aftermarket when it comes to W/S replacement. But it may take a year for it to become available there.

I’ve got OEM glass on my 2018 it’s developed 3 rock chips. I think there is something wrong with this glass. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or is this my bad luck.

My 2016 was hit quite a few times with decent sized rocks and got chipped but never busted. The rock that busted my 2019 was much larger, I don’t believe the new glass is weak, they can only withstand so much. I had heard several people complain of weak glass on here but never found that to be the case with mine. It would have busted any windshield from any manufacturer. But they are more costly for sure.

I got a tiny rock chip on the first day on my way home from the stealer. It was my fault though, I saw a guy with a weeder on the medium and didn't get over, had it fixed that same day.

I know, I know, it's TOYOTA fault for not making them bullet proof.

Going on three years now (41k) on the Taco all good, but you should see my T4R, poor thing!

Corning Glass got the contract for Mopar/Jeep windshields with their tough gorilla glass. I'm hoping they get to Toyota next.

Maybe that’s what I’ll request because the OEM glass seems a little fragile. I’ve only had the truck 3 months. My F150 glass lasted 160000 miles before it cracked.
