My wife has a Honda Odyssey and I had a new Subaru Crosstrek for a loaner and their backup camera/lcd screen display was so much better. The color and resolution really helped in backing up. What's the deal w/ 3rd Gen camera/screen? Can these be upgraded?

If backup resolution is so important to you that you're seeking an upgrade... I suggest you look into the Honda variant truck.

"so important"- why would I downgrade my truck to improve rear visibility?

Anything can be upgraded for those with the cash and willingness to accept the trade off. In this case, the trade off would be some ease of programming certain functions.

You obviously didn't get my joke. Someone who would consider upgrading "rear visibility" for backing up should be in a Ridgeline. The backup camera is fine. How many megapixels do you want/expect?

    20190129_142957.jpg

But seriously now what cant you see here? What would make this backup image better for you? Im failing to see why HD 4K resolution would help.

It is the resolution and the color. My curiosity is if it might be in the camera or the monitor?

My '17 Limited is just fine. Can't see the utility of an upgrade other than to waste cash.

Turn your head when you back up. Much more reliable and best resolution you can possibly get.

If you can't see, you probably shouldn't be driving.

    How so?

You want a better rear view camera/screen but you can't see well enough for that to matter anyway supposedly, which also makes you a driving risk. Who's more of a butthole, the guy providing opinions, or the guy putting everyone on the road in danger.

Its a backup camera, how long do you stare at it backing up? When I use mine its for 2 seconds max.

Early onset macular degeneration has to do with the internal aperture of eyeball and how much light is transmitted. Looking at virtually b/w view on the lcd screen vs. a wider range color spectrum provides more visual acuity. But you have made certain assumptions rather than inquiring and educating yourself.

Blurred vision or vision loss. So you either get glasses or you give up the license. I apologize that I can't go to your doctor to ask him about your condition.
