Ready to hit 36K and stopped in the dealer for prices. I bought the truck new on Oct. 18, 2016. 7-100 is 2740. 8-125 is 3270. I don't hink I can bring myself to spend that much for piece of mind, what do you think?

My concern would be all the loopholes in the warranty. Read that stuff front to back, up and down and make sure you're covered for the important stuff.

Do dealers typically charge for service quotes/inspections for out of warranty vehicles? If so you have to consider that too.

Is that for the Toyota extended warranty? You should be able to negotiate 30 - 40% off of their list price without too much trouble. I don't advise using any third party insurance.

Hard pass. It’s unlikely you’ll have a catastrophic failure or enough things happen that would cost more in total than $3k. I’m at 79k miles and have done nothing aside from oil changes and tires

My 100K/5yr Toyota platinum warranty was about $800 when I purchased my truck in May.

Every Toyota warrantee I ever purchased never paid off. 4 total, last 2: '03 Tundra recently sold had 276K trouble free miles; '13 Prius, 105K trouble free miles.....all out of 5yr. 100k mile warrantees. Never again, including current Tacoma. Waste of money unless you buy a Jeep or Ford!

That price is way too high. I got a 10 year 120k mile warranty for 1200 dollars. If you really want a warranty you can negotiate that price by at least 40-50%

There is a very low probability that you’ll get even close to the amount you paid for the warranty in repairs. This is why it’s such a good money maker for the dealer. Extended warranties on anything are a gamble in big favor for the person selling them. Why would they push them if not? Follow the money.

I bought the Toyota Platinum as my trunk has been very unreliable. 7/100k for $1,200. Glad I did as my truck needs timing chain cover reseal now.
