I started looking at used 2016-2017s and struggling to find one under 24K. But I have see some used really bare new ones for as low as $25,400. I would likely add heated seats, maybe add Katzskin leather seat 'covers' and swap out the rims. But other then parking sensors(as I assume that requires a computer change) is there any important options I can't add later. Of course I cant make it a 4x4 or swap to v6 :)

I added intermittent wiper control, added fog lights, changed the grill, changed tires and rims, added compass rear view mirror, added 1 inch leveling kit on the front and still looks original... haha you can add a lot of features.. nothing electronically mayor but definitely customize your sr...

Next weekend will install fender flares...

I have a 17 SR convenience package (adds keyless entry) and tow package.

    Things I've added:
    Rims/Tires
    Grill
    Intermittent wipers
    Tailgate Pop n Lock

    On the list:
    Fogs
    Tweeter upgrade

Things that you probably can't add:
Instrument cluster screen (for MPG tracking, tire pressures, etc)
Safety Sense, Blind spot monitors, etc
    Bed outlet
    Crawl control, locker control, etc
Steering wheel controls for head unit (you could upgrade the head unit, but you won't get the controls on the right side of the steering wheel)

With the right tools, you can add anything you want!

-Scanguage, but def lacking, but options exist for some of these readouts
-A lot of people DON'T want those features. Safety sense is when my GF is in the car, and her voice gets higher in city traffic.
-The bed outlet is so useless anyways. Rig a bluesea 12v panel or a good inverter yourself
-Aftermarket lockers can be added. Crawl control, atrac, and DAC would be missing though
-I would miss my audio wheel controls.

It is amazing. You walk into a dealer or on the Toyota website and they give you all sorts of charts showing what is available on different trims. Ask a salesperson and they might be motivated to answer questions as well.

I’d take a ‘17/16 4x4 2.7 Sr in manual over a new version in auto or v6, even if it cost more.

Look into it a little, it’s worth it.

I went to a dealer last night. I started playing with the fold down rear seat to make sure my toolbox would fit and see what it would take to rip out the seat bottom on the one side(I have one kid and a lot of tools I use daily so was thinking about running this as a three seater. He didnt know squat about options or even how the seats work but wanted me to meet his manger :)

He had one very stripped SR and then the next cheaper truck was at least 4K(maybe 6K more).

I am not planning to take truck off road. I do property maintenance in the city. There are a few basic SR that can be found for thousands less then a more loaded one.

I think I can do aftermarket radio to steering controls with an add on. Are there any settings for the truck that you set through the radio? I know some 'fancy' cars you set the open-door-ring-volume via the radio etc..

AC SR5 V6 with 4x4 is as low as I'd go.

OP it trying to figure out what features you can't add aftermarket. Toyota would certainly give you a different (read: wrong) answer.
