My truck is making a pretty strange sound when cold starting. Cannot tell what is causing it but it almost sounds like the serpentine is rubbing on something but goes away once its warmed up a little. Any idea what is could be? The noise starts at around 27 seconds

Not sure where your located, but it’s damn cold where I’m at. Extreme cold and mechanical things don’t play well together.

It stops when it warms up tells me cold weather induced.

Sounds like the idler pulley sealed bearings are just running a little rough until temp gets up and distributes the grease more evenly. Also does not help the cold weather is making the engine management software run it at a higher idle for emissions to get warmer quicker.

My truck makes odd noises because it’s &?;;&5;:$$$$ COLD! Sits in the garage at night, not as bad, maybe zero. At work all day outside, with wind,-20.

I'm in south Ontario and its sitting close to -20 Celsius (-4 Fahrenheit). I'm usually not too concerned about such things however we also have a 2017 TRD sport and it doesn't make any sounds when starting in the same conditions. Kind of disappointing considering mine has 63 thousand less kilometers and only 6 months old but has more rattles and weird noises than our 2017
