I’m wanting to paint my chrome rear number caps. I know they’re plastic but will I need to remove the chrome to make it more porous so paint will stick? Also what would be some good matching paint for MGM?

It is just chrome paint. Sand, clean, prime, paint

Would a sherwin Williams be able to match the paint and put it in a rattle can?

Rockauto caps here, black truck though so I just left them unpainted. Almost a perfect match to the flares.

May try doing that, but I think I would like to get them to match the paint on the rest of the truck.

any body supply shop should be able to match and put it in a spray can for ya.. can do singe or two stage with it.. i did the wheels on my jeep with single stage. was 30 bucks a can..

i picked the color.. they mixed it and put it in a spray can..

the bottom has the activator in it the top has the paint.. pop the blatter, shake well and spray.. they turned out great and have held up awesome..

    same shit as everyone else
I did this last year and I'm about to do it again since my surface prep was terrible. I used some primer for plastics, MGM color matched Dupli-Color, and some SprayMax 2K clear coat. I think I did 2 coats primer, 3 coats color, 3 coats clear. Waiting 15 minutes between each coat. That 2K spray is poison so don't be dumb. This time around I bought an adapter for my angle grinder so I can attach a denim buffing pad which will (hopefully) reduce the orange peel look and give it some sheen.IMG_20180705_194424.jpg

Just sharing my experience with this. I wanted black. Debated painting the chrome, but I didn't want to worry about maintaining chipped paint. Found some black ones for about $47/each, helluvalot easier. Installation was simple but took quite a bit of bending to get the new caps in and out, and the metal clip on the back is possible to get back in.
