The 2.7L Single Cab Thread

Common for us after a lift. The driveshaft is not engaging as much of the splines as it should. I believe a drive shaft spacer fixes it but I have not gotten one yet. I notice it mainly while decelerating in gear around 45-60+mph.

 

Needle bearings are probably toast. U joints are easy and cheap. Sounds like what my truck was doing

 

Installed the Core shifter today. Highly recommended if you want a better feeling shifter.

 

Got my guidance lines fixed by installing a newer camera and tailgate harness.

 

New tires!!

 

Does that Core shifter help with the play of the gear stick while in gear? I replaced the bushing at the end of my shifter, and the shifter seat bushing, but it still has too much play for my liking.

 

I love these tacos! I sold my ext cab the other day since it was too much money to be having in a car at 19 imo, and needed something quick. I bought this the next day from my neighbor!

185k miles 4WD likenew all terrains on it, 5 speed. paid $3,400 cash. I am realizing how a 5speed in these 4cylinders is really really nice to keep up with everyone else compared to the 2.7 auto. great little truck so far!

so i found out that sdhq bought all of the total chaos kits for the 5 lug Tacoma and has stuff in stock

also some of you guy know that i work for Bilstein and we might be doing something for the 5lug .....

 

Mine has been making that noise for Five years now. One day I’ll get a driveshaft spacer. I’ve heard flipping your driveshaft will cure it also.

Today I got home and added about 3 rotations of preload to my coilovers which raised the front end about 1/2 an inch and the only rubbing I thought I had is gone without any BMC or fender trimming, sitting on 33x12.5r17 Km3's, pretty fricken stoked about how it looks

 

It's definitely less sloppy than stock, even when reusing the shifter ball bushing. From what I've read it will break in over time but I've had it installed less than a week.

Did you install extended brake lines or have to modify your driveshaft?

Very nice! Mine is lifted 3", but yours looks WAY higher. How much total lift do you have in the front?

 

Thanks man! Yeah no cab mount chop, I do have extended brake lines, no drive shaft mods and at the moment no gear change, drives great lol. Soon gonna get 4.88 nitro gears with an ARB rear locker

 

Thanks man! I only adjusted the IVD coilovers 3 cranks down which isn't even a full 1/2" lift, from factory they come around 2.5", and the driver side was cranked more to level out the taco lean, the rear is advertised from icon as a 1.5" lift but it looks more like 2-3"

 

What's your measurement from the center of the wheel cap to the bottom of the fender flare? It looks like you're lifted 3-1/2 to 4" up front and almost the same out back.
