I searched for any old threads and didn't see any, so my apologies if this has been discussed.

Just bought a 2018 Off road and want to upgrade the wheels & tires. I hope to get the 17" TRD rims. What is the largest tire I can get and have it still fit where the spare tires hangs?

    TIA for any info.

I had a 265/75/16 under my offroad with no problem.

Modified slightly::::285/70/17 -33" could probably get 285/75/17-34" in....chopped the spare tire retainers flat + part of the tail pipe.

255/85/16 fits but I realize this isn’t a popular size. Rubs the diff a little but doesn’t seem to a problem.

@Rujack This is the exact tire size I am planning to purchase next when my 265/75's need replacing. Did you need to do any modification to the pulley to get it to fit? Also, how bad is the rub?

    The pulley?

Edit: my bad, forgot the context was spare tire mount.

Nope. It takes a little positioning to get it away from the tail pipe and centered between the two prongs but I’m talking like, 20 seconds of effort. I also managed to get it to clear the diff. No mod needed...

will add my size to the question
    will a 265/70/17 duratrac fit?

(I assume yes, since others report 265/75/16 fit which is similar in overall diameter)

    But doesn't hurt to ask

    Thx
