If you saw my other post, I’m making license plate mounts right now. I’ve only made around 3 so far, but the final product honestly is so nice. They’re made of 20mm flatstrap welded together, L frame brackets, and some nuts and bolts, they are relatively easy to install, and they look very nice when they’re done! I think this design would work best on the 1st gen, but I can assume that it would work on other cars and trucks as well. Here’s some pictures of what it looks like mounted, and when the license plate is on as well. With the license plate on, it is practically unnoticeable that you actually have a mount below it! These could also be used for the rear of your truck if you have an aftermarket bumper etc.3D22ED86-8617-4336-B1F2-07DFFA96C80A.jpg05979F3E-CF24-499C-86AD-293CD020424A.jpg592DD84F-3442-4401-905A-0CEDD2E6A5C8.jpg7EEA6294-822A-4057-BF61-63881BE5623F.jpgED2282F4-BAD4-42C1-97A0-55AA77EDF769.jpg

What is the point of the license plate mount?
What are you trying to achieve?

Better mounting of the license plate, more uses of the mount. The more uses include better front end protection, if someone where to hit me in the front end or I was to hit something dead on, the license plate as well as the mount would take the majority of the damage, making it so that my truck doesn’t need a new bumper. I could also use the license plate mount to mount some led pods to the front of my truck, without having to buy a whole new bracket, or buy one of the cheap eBay ones that rust out and break within 1 year.
It also looks better then where they normally mount it which would be on the lower bumper trim. Not to mention it’s easier to see the plate because it does not get covered with as much mud and debris as it would if it were down there :D thanks!

If you hit something dead on, that small 12"x12" license plate bracket with whatever you have mounted on there will not provide any protection. It will probably cause more damage then desire. In your case, your light bar will end up tearing your lower valance and so on.

Light bar is flush mounted inside my lower valance. During the making of this bracket, I had a failure bracket that I took and hit dead on multiple times with a sledge hammer, welds didn’t break, nor did the metal, the only thing that bent was the metal obviously and the brackets holding it on. Im not personally going to argue with someone about something theyve never seen or experienced, but thanks!

Lol, I must have clicked on this thread by accident.

I've owned my truck for 14 yrs and I've only had my front plate on for not even 1 day. To clear the ticket that a meter maid gave me when I was away from my home area.

Besides, I have an 01 which has a different bumper, license plate mounts on the lower valance.

But good luck with your endeavor!
