H.O. alternator question.

    Fox 2.0 Coilovers in the front and Fox 2.0’s in the rear, Total Chaos UCA’s, Al-lpro expo leafs, K&N cold air intake, TRD headers,Magnaflow catback exhaust,URD short throw shifter, switched out my 60/40 bench seat for some Tacoma Limited seats, Replaced the vinyl shift boot for a leather one, completely soundproofed the cab w/ Frost King. Replaced stock radio with a Pioneer AVH series head unit. Focal component system w/a 10" sub powered by 2 Alpine amps. Weathertech floor mats. Line-X'd the bed. SCS Ray 10’s, Installed an A.R.E. MX series camper shell. All-Pro Apex front bumper w/ All-Pro skid plates all the way back to the Trans. Low Range fuel skid plate.
    I’m looking into ordering a H.O. alternator for my rig. I have a c.b., a 20” light bar, an arb compressor, a Blue Sea dual battery set up and a Bussman waterproof fuse box all getting installed at the end of February. I know @BamaToy1997 made them from oem housings, I reached out to him but he hasn’t been on here in awhile, I also called his business and left a message but no call back. I was looking at DC power but from what I’ve read I guess the lining up of the housing isn’t the greatest for 1st gens, I was thinking about LCE but I guess you have to switch out the pulley and I’d really just like one that is OEM match including the pulley. Is Mean Green alternators set up this way? Any info is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for responding. I looked into the Cadillac ones and with all the splicing and it being a different size I’d just rather go with an oem housing/direct swap. The d.c. power ones you posted seem to have fitment issues and even though they look nice I’d rather not go that route. I think the Mean Green alternators are probably my best route. They are pricey but from what I’ve read our very high quality.

    Not too sure on the amp rating, I’ll most likely go with over stock but not too high. I’ve read guys having issues at idle when their amps are higher. Unfortunately Mean Green has very little info on their website. All I’m going on is from what I’ve read on various websites and the over all verdict is that those who purchased Mean Green alternators we’re pleased with the product

    Do you have a local Auto Electric Shop that is well liked.

    Talk to them about turning your stock alternator up. Some might be all for a project like this others say no thanks

    You do understand the wiring does need to be upgraded for the alternator output

    Does anyone know if Toyota came out with two types of alternators for 1st gens? I read in a thread somewhere that Toyota installed a higher amperage alternator for those who had the tow package?

    Yep, that’s definitely getting done. This is all in preparation for my Bussman fusebox, my Blue Sea dual battery set up and a bunch of other components that are going on as soon as I get home from Brazil!
