You must be from California if you’re that worried about rain. We do everything in the rain up here. Just cook under a tree if you’re that worried about it. Why over complicate something as simple as cooking? And as said above it doesn’t rain that much here in the summer.

 

Trying to go into mid southern Oregon, maybe pop into western Idaho, head north, into Washington then western Oregon. No plan, gotta get my butt in gear to come up with a plan. Like to be gone a couple weeks minimum, up to maybe a month.

That be true. I'm more concerned about fire restrictions, since Kalifornia has been burning up, I may camp dispersed at times, so cooking under a tree may not be safe.

I’f you’re thinking a PVC pipe cover with a tarp would hold up in rain and wind any more than a pop up canopy, then I don’t know how to solve your solution. Cook under a tree or tie one end of a tarp down to the tree and the other to the floor.

 

I want to grab one of those for camping. Where did you find one that cheap?

Academy, or Dicks are usually pretty good. I would expect to spend closer to $100 though

I've had one from harbor freight too

The $100 are a little nicer and last a little longer but not twice as nice or long

 

There are several Awnings out there you can Purchase however need a bed rack or roof rack to mount it to like the ARB one or several others

I have a hitch mounted umbrella holder. Works great for shade, but not sure if it'll suit your needs for rain.

Yeah. I have several actually. We use them for bike race events. Think about the professional grade ones you see at farmers markets, bike races and other temporary public events.

Just like anything else, there's a difference between professional grade and recreational grade. When our EZups are properly guyed and weighted down it withstands quite a lot of abuse from wind and rain. Also, unlike the $50 ones, they're made to be put up and taken down 100's of times without failing. But admittedly most people wouldn't use a $1000 canopy for camping and picnics.
