App for truck stats?

I used two separate PIDs and merged two gauges together to make that one combined display. Both PIDs come from the “Calculated PIDs” selection within Dashboards Menu -> Add Display, Display Configuration... see below:





I made two radial gauges, modified the gauges from the ”Edit Display” page, and finally merged the two gauges into one using size and position:

 

I run a Bluetooth dongle off of Amazon that I think was about $10, then the OBD Fusion. My gauges indicate intake air temp, coolant temp, engine oil temp, AT oil temp, fuel rate, and fuel on board. Those are available through the Toyota sensor purchase option, which I think was $20 but I might be wrong on that.
Eventually I would like to get my gauges tuned to the extent that Tacoma3rdGen has his with the color arcs, but I haven't sat down and looked at how to do this yet.

 

I would love to eventually go through and customize my gauges similar to yours with some of those nominal and warning band colors.

 

I just learned about a week ago that many (maybe most?) of the OBD2 adapters drain power from the truck's connector even when the truck is not running. Apparently the power connections on the Tacoma OBD2 port remain "on" all the time. Some of the adapters do appear to have a power on/off switch, so maybe that is what you need to look for.

On the dashboard you made, touch and hold the gauge to begin “edit” function, then select “style”



Then select “range” from the top of the page:



Scroll down to ranges, and build as many as you like... note; you set the values to the warnings you prefer... customize as much as you like!

 

That’s another one of the reasons I selected the Kiwi unit... ultra low power consumption. I’ve left the unit installed while on a 14 day trip, came back with no noticeable issue on first engine start. PLX website states:

• Power consumption - uses ultra low power (0.2 W active / 0.05 W sleep) allowing you to leave your device installed permanently in your vehicle.

Why do you need all the crap everywhere?

 

Do I have to "need" it or is it ok if I just want it?
I want to have my phone up where I can see it. I'm on call and my agency covers six counties in North Texas. I use my phone for navigation and it's much easier to have it up where it's visible as opposed to down in the console, or me trying to hold it and use the navigation at the same time.
The iPad is used for when I want to navigate off streets where I use Gaia; it's not on there all the time. I also can use it to run the ODB dashboard when I want to do that and I'm using the phone for something else.
Neither the phone nor the iPad obscures any of my field of view out of the truck. They are both within the profile of the hood, believe it or not. The rearview mirror is actually more of a distraction and obstruction than either of those two.
I have the "crap" mounted where it is out of my view of the street and environment around me, not "everywhere."

 

Didn’t mean to sound like a dick. Just wondering why you would want all that stuff. Makes sense and doesnt make sense. You say it’s out of your view, yet you use it to navigate. I would think the phone would enough, the iPad seems excessive if not towing where you want to track temperatures.

 

Didn't take is as you being a dick.
It's out of view meaning it does not obstruct anything while I'm driving. It's near enough to my field of view that a quick glance lets me look at what I want to see and go right back to street view without having to move my head or substantially switch my view and I can keep situational awareness. If you look at the pic, that is from very near eye level for me: neither piece of equipment sticks up past the profile of the hood if you look at them. When I am using the iPad to navigate that is with Gaia on GPS mapping and the screen on the iPhone is smaller than what I want and a lot of detail is lost on the smaller screen. I prefer to be able to see a larger area in greater detail. As far as the Fusion dashboard, I want those information points and they work for me.
To me, this setup is what I want and not excessive. Others may not see it that way, and that's fine with me.

I work for a large public health agency. We cover a very large part of North Texas. My division works with law enforcement, jails, courts, disaster response, state hospitals, and some local hospitals.

That's cool but I'd prefer to monitor oil pressure. I know that on 2nd gens you can't get that reading because the truck only has a low pressure switch that turns on the idiot light on the cluster. Did that change for 3rd gens?

I feel like a truck needs cluster displays for speed, RPM, gas tank, battery voltage, coolant & trans fluid temps and oil pressure.
My dads Tundra has all those

 

There is not an oil pressure read in either the SAE PIDs or the Toyota specific PID pack... don’t know why, but I can find all kinds of “pressures” like atmospheric, fuel rail, manifold, barometric, evap, tire monitor, A/C, etc... but nowhere is the oil pressure available (outside of an idiot light), WTF!?!?
