Ah! We had a hard coal boiler and had that same fun to get it going every season. Just strange. Like you said, once it is running nicely, it is just the load / clean out dance.

I have the black delrin, and yesterday when I got up is was -28 Celsius, -18.4 in Fahrenheit and I had no problem without gloves.

The truck was slow to start it was so cold, but it was fine for me.

But we're used to the cold and it's nothing for us up here in the Great White North!

Subbing here so I can get on the list hopefully sooner than later. I have to have one of these. They look amazing.

Little confused on the insert though, is that strictly to dial in a specific weight?

This is exactly what I’d want:

I assume it’s aluminum with the TRD engraved on the collar and milled out shift pattern so I can add paint. Is there a separate insert or is the ball one piece besides the Delrin ring?

It can be solid or hybrid.

Those are typically solid aluminum (everything inside of the ring) and final weight is 275g.

It can be made into a hybrid, but not necessary unless you have reason to alter it due to a personal preference.

There is no waitlist anymore, but on 2/25 I will open the order form again.

Ok so I’d just go solid then. As far as the collar, the one pictured above is aluminum as well? And is that black from the customer or did you anodize it? I want mine to look exactly like the top pic. Is it 2/25 yet? Lol

Yep, but I am somewhat limited in what I can do with my current setup.

There are a few more pictures on my instagram showing a few custom engravings I have done in the past.

What I would be looking for possibly is maybe what my avatar photo is or maybe even a 13 point lightning bolt. Totally understand have to be pretty much simple but was just curious

The collar is black delrin. As stated in the OP, I do not offer any coatings at this time.

So is there any way to add a little more weight to the aluminum knobs? As other users have said in this thread, around 600g would be the sweet spot I think. And I completely understand all that goes into this with development and time, but over $200 is a little too steep for me for the titanium. I’m fine with around the $120 mark for aluminum, however it would be nice to add a little more weight to it.

316SS Hybrid w/ Aluminum core can be anywhere from 550 to 650g. It was designed to hit the 600g target, initially ... but I played around with it over the months to see what the upper and lower limitations were for that particular design.

If you want an aluminum knob to be that heavy, I hope you have really really really big hands, haha.

This sounds perfect. Forgive me, but what would the price point be on that? The OP only mentions prices on ones that are described as solid.

I’ll definitely be in line next time you open up ordering though. I guess we just PM you or post to this thread closer to the 2/25 date?

Also hope you’re making some decent money, well deserved with the quality of these!

A little further down are the options. +$15 for an aluminum core, and then whatever else you wish to add to it.

As for making money, every dime has been reinvested so I can produce at home thus far. I was originally making these at work on industrial CNC machines, but now I have a fully capable "hobby" shop in my garage. Still paying some of the equipment off, but I am maybe 2 mos out from being clear on that.

I've been gunning to turn actual profit by April of this year, which marks 1yr I started investing in equipment.

Been a hell of a ride, and we've come a long way on these knobs ... which I like to think were designed (organically) for the needs of TW members along the way. Every single option has a reason or story behind it, and I like that.

It sounds cliche, but that is the real world definition of entrepreneurship. I wish you the best of luck and am happy to help support!

    Thanks!

It is difficult for me to see it that way, all I did was make myself a shift knob one day ... and the rest happened pretty much all on its own. I even had friends offer to put equipment in my garage on their dime for a chunk of what would ultimately become a future business in their eyes.

Personally, I have no interest in the traditional "machine shop" business model. You outbid other shops and have to rely on production to make your money, which means constantly having to keep up with tech to stay in the game.

If I had a few more machines (real machines) this would be a great full time gig. At this point I could bring those friends/investors in, and stop saying "no" to all of the other projects others have been brought to me through here, haha.

I've turned down so much work in the past 3 months alone that it actually hurts me. But still, if anythign has been proven here this past year ... taking baby steps is the prudent path. I'm no risk taker, can't really figure out if that is a good or bad thing at this point.

I hope so. Also, if you and @TeecoTaco bring me anymore business ... there's probably a law out there stating that I need to pay you a salary at this point, lmao. You guys have been critical to the success of this project.
