Just bought a 2018 Taco TRD Sport....nice truck....traded down from a Ram BigHorn Ecodiesel, as the Ram was just in the shop way too much.
I hope this tin can will be better than the last one.
One thing Toyota...can you guys make a small truck like this better on fuel?
this thing is thirsty ....wow....towing a small trailer, I get like 10 MPG.....my brothers Hemi gets 16 towing a much larger trailer....come on Toyota...get with the new century
But none the less I will give my opinion on reliability after I put 100k on it

The hemi doesn’t have to work as hard to pull the load, thus better mpg’s. If you’re going to be towing a lot, you bought the wrong truck!

Welcome to TW! Can you define "small trailer"? I get 10 towing a 2750lb travel trailer and 19-20 hauling a small aluminum landscape trailer on Lowes/Home Depot runs.

That eco diesel has a fatal flaw in its camshaft. It’s a time bomb.

    +1 on this.

I don't tow but on the previous forum I was on I'd see people regularly post about getting 11 mpg or lower when towing. That was with a 4.0 engine with more torque too.

So wouldn't be surprised if the Toyota's 3.5 liter engine works even harder.

With daily driving, I'm also consistently getting about 4 mpg better than my previous truck. Nothing to write home about but at the same time don't think mpg is something to complain about with the third gen Tacoma.

The 2019 is not a "fuel miser" Get used to it when you need do hit the skinny pedal.

Our "stock" is getting 19 mpg after about 900 miles in the mnts.......If you want better mileage w/o towing be prepared to be "THAT GUY" on the highway.

My suggestion is just simply drive it like you want to and then evaluate the results.

The TACO is not a fuel conservative truck. PERIOD DOT.

Love it but I knew the fuel would be less than something else.....and we purchased a '19 knowing that!

You have a ways to go to break the engine in. When you get to 6500 miles, report back. Your mileage will get better.

Just like my Jetta....2005.5 that is over 50 MPG avg now with 190K miles on it.

Don't BABY the truck at first...just drive it and make it go thru its paces.

I anticipate the "stock" mpg's will move up a little bit but when it gets armor and bed mods it will be less than 19 mpg.
