Hi, so I want to figure out how to connect an aftermarket camera to the rear view mirror screen. My factory rear camera shows on the factory touch screen. Anyone know how I can patch into the mirror screen?

I'd love a front camera on my 2011. Also curious about this except mine is the rear view mirror camera

So i picked up this front camera that nests into the emblem, its not a perfect fit since the rear portion of the cam will not fit into the grill opening. I'm going to modify the camera body, as opposed to modifying the grill because its cheaper to replace, then I'm hoping to run the wires through the firewall and into the dash, where i'll have a switched power. the Video input is where i need help, how can i access the video input for the rear view mirror? Do i use the IO1 plug (red and white wires)? and does the switch over for pulling up the display happen when there is a video signal?[IMG]

From what I've been learning, 2013 & older had the view in the rearview mirror, 2014 & newer, their mirrors didn't have the camera screen in them, the camera shows thru the radio screen. If you want it to show in the mirror, you'll need to install a mirror, with the screen & a harness going from the mirror to the harness plug, near the fuse box.

Post #3 may help here with identifying the wires.

Here is a Link to the actual camera i ordered: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06WP9MTKG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I can't recommend it yet, because i have not seen the output image, I've read reviews that the view angle is too wide and makes it useless in off-roading but it should work fine for me to judge parking distances.

I also can say its not a direct fit, so be aware its going to take some customization and glue to hold it in.

Like said above you would need a mirror with the camera in it and harness. Then I would recommend a SPDT switch so you could have the front camera on one side of the switch and the other in reverse

I do, I have a 2012, it has a review mirror with the screen, currently it displays temp and compass, i would like it to display a switched cam when powered.

I think we're all on the same page, I just need to know were i can find this harness and where does it plug into.

Sorry, but I'm a little confused. Are you saying the mirror now shows the compass & temp, but no back-up camera image? If that's the case, is there a camera in the tailgate? Several folks, usually with 2014 & 2015 models, have found their Taco's were already completely wired for the camera, except for the camera, in the tailgate. The only thing needed was to install the camera & plug the existing harness to it, turn on the ign. & put the truck in reverse. If yours already has a working back-up camera, there is a company called "Camera Source", they have the harness to move the image from the mirror to the radio screen, on the 2013's. I'd assume they have other harnesses for other Taco's, hopefully the one you need. I'm in the process of trying to get the camera working in my 2013 reg. cab. I'm not even sure the back-up camera was available in the reg. cabs, I know the list of options were very slim for reg. cabs the last couple of yrs they were made.

    Ok, I hear ya.

I have a functional back up cam, it feeds video to my radio head unit (jbl). It works fine and dandy, I would like to take advantage of the screen in the rear view mirror.

OK, maybe I have it now. The 2013 & older orig. set up should have had a 4 pin connector at the right side upper corner of the fuse box, that takes the image to the mirror. To move the image, per the kit I've bought, you disconnect that connector & run this new harness from the camera end of this connector to the radio, leaving the harness, going to the mirror unhooked. I'd think there should be a vacant 4 pin connector floating somewhere around the top of the fuse box, that is still connected to the mirror. Sorry, I don't know where you will get power to your new front set-up.

Once you figure out what harness you need then you can do the anytime camera mod. I just did mine the other day. One project at a time right lol:D

Curious regarding end result of this. Kudos for trying. I ended up buying a cheap aftermarket kenwood with 2 video inputs for my front and rear cameras. The front is powered by a toggle switch vs the rear which is tied to the reverse lights.

Here is my question, here is a popular image of what I think people are talking about for the connector. there are two connectors and two ends, which connector and which end is the video feed into the rear view mirror screen?

IO1? IN1? male end, or female?

The camera is made to fit in the emblem, it has a flange that nests in the emblem, but they didn't account for the actual black grill since the rear end is too large in diameter to fit in there. I'll have to do some grinding to make sure it fits into the grill. you can source the camera from ebay/Amazon i posted my link above. I cannot recommend it yet though, since i have yet to see the output.
