There are places to wheel around here you just have to be willing to drive 6+ hrs to get there Lol. There is some fairly mild senic trails down in Kentucky not too far over the Ill boarder. Geekhouse pretty much hit the nail on the head, there are people who wheel Toyotas around here, they are just the crazies like me who build full blown rockcrawlers and the closest place to use them is an 8hr drive in any direction.

Small world man. My mom grew up in Trevor and raised me and my siblings up right South of the boarder in Antioch. My dad rented a house in twin lakes so we spent a bunch of time up there too.

It’s been a while but I’ll be out there soon to visit my mom. It’s going to be wierd to see how much things have changed; before I moved there was no Walmart or Menards in Antioch. Last time I visited, it was so built up.

Yeah it’s amazing how fast an area grows if you haven’t been around for awhile, especially northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin.

Chicagoland has wheelers, they fall a little more on the hardcore wheeling spectrum that most of TW though. There's a group of 7-8 of us that all are running 37"+ tires, dual locked and solid axles in the south suburbs. There's a sizable fullsize contingent in town too that is on ton's, etc. Funny enough, I coincidentally ran into the same guy with a pickup on tons and 40's from Aurora in both Harlan in October and Flat Nasty in November. The other half of Chicagoland is guys running fire roads, etc. There doesn't seem to be much in the middle.

I think some of it has to do with all the first gen's and early second gens rusting away up here. Trucks that would have gotten wheeled were either bought back, had frames replaced or returned to the earth when the frame broke. That's a ton of trucks that would be in their wheeling prime (10-25 years old) but just don't exist anymore.

Well that was a let down of a storm. Was really hoping to go play around in the snow. Oh well, maybe next year? I think they over hype these storms so people go out and buy a bunch of stuff, water, food, etc, and then it turns out we get like 6 inches, atleast thats what we got in Naperville. Came out this morning and roads are already comepletly plowed, didnt have to take it out of 2wd at all.

Yea this “massive” snow storm was a major letdown. But man. People still couldn’t drive like always!

When you guys go to Attica do you drive the truck or trailer it down? Do you guys just mess around in the main part or go to trucks only? (requires winch).

I drove there when I went and mainly just tried not to break anything for the ride back in the daily driver. My buddy had an off-road only Jeep and we played around in the trucks only part.

Hey everyone, I live in northern Illinois, near McHenry. River Road off road park is a nice lace to go for some basic offroading but after about 2 hours there it does get boring because you are driving over the same areas again and again. As it warms up a bit I am hoping to get a few times in spring and thinking of either going to Attica or the Ozarks in Arkansas (far trip). If anyone else makes plans hit me up and I will try and join ya.

I will be hitting the rally park in March for sure with a coue work buddies. Need to go and stretch my legs a bit after this winter and just to get a little feel for the truck. After that my plans are to join a few UP MI guys from the forums and hit up some trails up there in the summer. Hopefully it all goes to plan, would love to get some people to go with from Chicago.

If you're willing to go on a long ass drive, LBL in kentucky is gonna be the 2nd weekend of march and promises to be pretty dope. Other shortish drives are Attica and The Cliffs.

Check on your Aurora family/friends. Shooting at Henry Pratt/Alro steel building, ATF and FBI on the way.

Just checked our board at work. No drivers there fortunately. Had a scare a couple years ago when I had a sales rep in Cummins when there was a shooting
