I've done a search on this forum as well as Google and can't find any usable repair manual for getting to and replacing the horn (I'm sure the replacing part is pretty easy). I've looked down the grill and can see one horn sitting in front of the radiator, I'm assuming there's a second one somewhere?

I'm tired/embarrassed of my cartoon like horn and want to replace it with something aftermarket. I was looking at either 2010 stock Toyota horns, or Fiamm brand horns.

If anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated!

I didn't like the bumblebee horn on my 2010 PreRunner either.....when I checked it I found that it's only about 110db....

I stopped in OReilly Auto Parts the other day and bought 2 Highway Blasters....1 high tone and 1 low tone....they are 132db each.......seems like I paid about $30 for them.....(old geezers like me remember when cars came with 2 horns, 1 high and 1 low....gave a better sound)

Went home and took out the original horn and installed the 2 new ones.....presto! People will hear me now when I blow....definitely louder, and they sound like a real horn, not bumblebees...(2 @ 132db is much louder than 1 @ 110db)

(wired them in parallel....didn't have to change any of the factory wiring...just made a jumper to go from the 1 over to the other....the second terminal on each horn goes to ground)

Thanks everyone for the advice, after doing more homework it seems like I need to splice the factory wire and wire the 2 horns in parallel as Goober pointed out. Seems like an easy process, only problem I have is I don't know how? Are there some detailed instructions for this?

    Thanks!

You don't have to take off the bumper to do it. All you have to do is remove the grille, then you can get the old horn off (I think if was on the passenger side) then you can hook up the 2 new ones. I mounted mine with the bolts that were already in place in front of the radiator. I fed the wire around and mounted the relay right behind the driver's side headlight then connected the wires to battery/horn.

You want to make sure they have a clear-ish path in front of them to get the most sound out of them. The relay was also a big help, otherwise you won't be able to get enough power out of the horns.

And looking at the ones you are looking at, I might have overpaid... I paid a lot more for mine with a lower db rating... I'm not sure how these will hold up since I just got them but so far I have to say I'm impressed with them. (Not hard to do compared the bike horn these trucks came with)

Just send me a PM if you have any questions but the wiring for these things shouldn't be too bad if they are anything like the one's I got.

I just bought the Fiamm low tone (72112) and high tone (72012) for $28, I'll look into the wiring.

That horn should be pretty nice, 130+ db seems pretty high though, especially seeing as the one I got is pretty loud at 118. Definitely an upgrade from the stock one though. Let me know how the install goes!

I was doing some digging and found this on the Miata MX-5 forum, this pretty much sums it up and makes it stupidly easy

    "2) approximately 2' of 14 ga. automotive wire, any color;

Cut off about 6" of your 14 ga. wire, bare both ends, as well as both ends of the longer piece left over. Twist one bared end of the long piece together with one end of the short piece, and join them by crimping them together into the male spade connector. Now, crimp a female spade connector onto the remaining two bared wire ends. You now should have a "Y" sort-of shape, with the male spade connector at the bottom of the Y, and a female at each of the two top arms of the Y (one of these arms should be 6" long, the other 18" long, now). There's your harness!"

I always hated mine. Sounds like someone's choking a sick duck.

    Good luck with yours!

So it seems like there is zero space to put two of these fiamm sized horns anywhere. If you have pics of your taco with horns please post em!

Just got done installing the horns. They are SO loud, I can't stop giggling like a school girl when I set the alarm (horn honks). I'll have to find time to make a video for this, it's a lot easier than many would think.

Stock comes with 1 horn, I replaced mine with 2 horns i got at autozone, a high and a low. Its pretty loud I just tap an extra wire into the existing wiring to run the second horn.

I went to the JY and took a set off of a Caddy and added them to my 09 Tacoma. I now have 4 horns that are loud and deep. Total cost was less than $5.00.
