Whenever I describe the Tacoma to someone, I use the analogy that it's the AK of trucks. My taco at least is not refined. It rattles and creaks but it has never left me stranded nor am I worried that it ever will, exactly like the AK. I've attached some photos to show my ghetto fixes for the roughness. My interior rattles quite a bit. I've got a koozie jammed in between the door and dash to stop rattling. Felt on the door to stop the sticking sound of the weather seal. A rag jammed in front of the seat belt to stop creaking. Felt in the radio bezel to stop that from rattling. And a rag stuffed between the windshield and dash. The engine ticks and suspension sometimes creaks off roading. If you couldn't tell, I'm a more function over form, cheap fix kind of guy. Even with all that I love this truck and have confidence that I will always have a ride home. Thanks for reading.

There’s function over form and then there’s ghetto...lol...no offense...all the power to you, if it works it works. :)

What I have always thought as well. Even though there are some things that can be annoying, it is a fine truck indeed.

I'm straight ghetto with my fixes haha. Sometimes I'll read about something that might look better but then I'm afraid to undo my ghetto fix and have the problem come back.

I really like that analogy, it basically goes along with one of my favorite little posters.

just change the rail to all that crazy technology they're trying to put in vehicles, and it works. Someone needs to photoshop a version with a touch screen and a Tacoma

Gotta love the simplicity of these trucks. I dealt with a VW Passat before getting a Tacoma and the downgrade to a base model truck with manual locks and no power windows was a welcome change from the constant fear of "what electrical thing is gonna shit the bed today" of the VW.

I guess we are just suppose to ignore the fact that there is an actual residential indoor power outlet in the console?
