I say it would depend on the length and weight of the kayaks. I plan on getting 2 Hobie PA 14's which are nearly 14 foot long and weigh over 120 lbs each. A Kayak rack is out of the question for that. A trailer is easier.

I've got two 10' fishing kayaks that I haul in the bed of my truck (with the factory tonneau cover installed). I just put the back in first and tie them down with racketing straps. Actually surprised at how secure the kayaks are with this set up. I'll eventually be getting a roof rack so I can still utilize the bed for storage.

I use a prinsu rack on the roof, yakima cradles/rollers and malone j-bars.

My kayak cradles and j-bars are older, and fit the 1x1" crossbars from an old thule system, so I had to get a couple of 1x1 crossbars for the prinsu.

This is just one of my kayaks on the yakima cradles/rollers:

A bed extender at first, and I could stuff 2 kayaks on it but that was clunky. Then a Malone trailer. I have put 3 kayaks on the trailer, I bought extra wide support bars. I like the Malone, it's galvanized, has 12" wheels, sealed bearings, and the tongue collapses so it can stand on end in the garage and I can still get both vehicles inside.

Yours are 10' long and 35 lbs? Are they whitewater kayaks? What is the weight capacity?

I've got a 15.5' jackson kraken for some offshore sessions. I use my prinsu racks, cab and shell for longer trips, or just use my bed with a bed extender( tbone) for going on short trips locally.

I will say it sticks out a shit ton with this short bed lol. My inshore kayaks around the 12-13' range fit fine enough with just the bed and tailgate down.

I use the Yakima Jaylow. Not the best solution, but decent if you only get out a few times a year.

Trailer with cargo box. Never have to worry about loading the gear for those quick after work fishing trips. Two tens on bottom. A 12 and13 on top. Roof of truck and bed are open for any other adventure needed gear.

Yakima Jaylow & a Vibe 10 - COME SAIL AWAY WITH ME! Changed the Yakima's up to just tying it down to the roofrack w/ a little foam. Much easier to throw it up and bring it down! Wasn't bad without the bed rack, but now with its a pain sometimes as the bed isn't as accessible.
