I have been looking at 4Runners & have my eye on a 2019 TRD Pro 4Runner & also been looking at loaded Limited Nighshade. After some time I’ve come to the conclusion that there is no perfect replacement for my OffRoad Taco. It has a perfect blend of capabilities & technology when compared to these 4Runners. Looks like I’ll be sticking around the Tacoma forums a bit longer.

Both are good trucks and I'd probably be happy with either one. The 4Runner is a bit more polished and prim while the Tacoma is more utilitarian and rough around the edges. I'm gonna stick with my Tacoma too. I'm trying to get my wife to buy a 4Runner :D

I debated too, and I traded off the Tacoma for the 4runner! Very happy!

If you dont need a bed the 4runner is far superior.

I have one of each and they are both great. You really can’t go wrong with either one

Same, but agreed the 4R is the better quality vehicle overall

Superior in interior amenities, but more expensive to own, less tow capacity and no bed. Having both would be ideal but the Tacoma is superior for my needs.

You are very persuasive. Now don't make me go out and buy a 4R. o_O:D

Yes but it all depends on the day for me. I like that my Tacoma is less refined and wish it were even more so

Have owned both at one time or another... I liked both of them...
I really regret selling my old 2003 4runner limited with the V8. Purchased it with 115k on the clock and got it for a steal. Was a trade in on a sell I made when I sold for Toyota. Ended up making 4k by turning it around a few months later... but shoulda hung onto it.

A base 4Runner costs more than a TRD 4x4 double cab but then again a base 4Runner is waaay nicer than a base Tacoma. You can't go wrong either way though.

Side note, do we know what the last year for the current gen 4Runner will be? If so that may influence my decision to trade in one day.

I have a 4R and it suits my needs just fine for now. Considering my place in life right now a truck wouldn’t do me any good and I’d hardly use it for the bed.

When the time comes for a truck though...I’m hunting for a 1st gen

Prob 2020, current gen will be 10yrs old at this point, which is their usual refresh timeline

I love the look of the 4Runner TRD Pro but just not sure I can live without the extra tech that I have now. If I resist long enough hopefully they will sell the Pro & help put an end to the debate.
