Last time I was called up for Jury Duty, I was active, and deployed to warmer, more arid climates.... and i found out when I got back and had a warrant.....

ANYWAY, how does that work as an employee? Id lose my mind losing out on my paycheck.

 

My company reimburses me for the days I'm at court

 

They pay you 8 hours, I lose out on OT though fpr the week which blows

 

Who pays? The state? Or my shop?

Do they have to pay you? I know your employer doesn't have to, they just can't fire you for having jury duty. If the gubment pays you, I bet it's no where near the average person's wage rate if they were at their job...

They MUST pay for the first 3 days. After that, I am out though. $50/day? Pfffftttt

 

And... the $50/day is taxable! What's worse, it's not even the state minimum wage. Seems fairly hypocritical to me...

 

Yea they have to pay you, then the state bends you over and goes in dry after 3 days. I get OT after 40 hours WORKED, not 40 hours paid

 

But it's your civic duty...

 

Yeah... I'd like to see them try to pay any elected position $50/day and see who runs for the spot.

 

Yup. I went to jury duty last year and wrote down I have an LTC and that we have been sued over a dog nipping incident before (home owners took care of it and it was someone who didnt ask to pet the dog and got nipped on the ankle out of excitement from a dog we use to have). One lawyer didn't know what an LTC was and then didn't want me because of the prior history. I was more than happy to go walk my happy ass back upstairs to sit around some more

 

I liked jury duty the one time I had to do it.

 

I've done both grand jury and petit jury. I don't mind either, but wouldn't mind grand jury again.

Yeah, after 3 days, Im out....

I get OT after 8 worked per day, and outside normal work hours. DT is the best though.

Dude, made my night....

 

They love to tell you it's your civic duty and what not. I just want to tell them I'm losing out on a bunch of money and time being there. I had OT after 8 at the 2nd shop I worked at which was nice, but they were slow as hell for 5 months out of the year

 

Pretty sure my company would just step in and be like "yeah, he won't be able to make it". Haha .
