Well youre not completely wrong, thats why you really have to think about what you want to do with it. I have a Shield 9 for concealed. it took me quite a while to get accurate with it. For home defense or packing for trips as you say, i wouldnt even hesitate to grab the 1911, its no contest for me which i am more accurate with. Of course, there is always debate on how far you will need to shoot in a pd situation. i would shoot a compact and full size to compare.

Yeah I’m AD AF at Luke. It’s a solid gun if your comfortable with 8 rounds. The gun is plenty accurate and very controllable for a single stack 9mm. Very comfortable to carry and won’t sag your belt carrying appendix or hip. It’s pretty much no frills and operates like a typical Glock.

    Stock for now.
Personally I am not a fan of Glocks. I am however a big fan of H&K. Currently have a VP9 (the wifes technically) and just ordered a P30s .40 from cheaperthandirt.com for about $150 less than they are selling at local stores. Just my 2 cents.

Gonna head to Diamondback Shooting Sports up on Broadway/Kolb and try a few handguns out tomorrow, though I'm still leaning towards the Walther.

Thanks everyone for the help, scored a deal in Phoenix via armslist, $400 for a Walther PPQ M2 (has about 100 rounds through it) and she threw in this speedvault biometric safe and "go magnets".

Thanks man, truly, your insight and offering to shoot, help, was awesome. Now to make time for the range and to be somewhat competent with it. Any recommendations for places to buy ammo?

Pinking ammo or good ammo lol.
SGAmmo and Freedom munitions are places I tend to go. Freedom is the only place I found found new or reloaded 135 grain which is my preferred load. That way is close to my carry ammo and is good for two gun as it does knock over the steel at 50 yards easier then 115, which at times takes two shots And sgammo has good prices on most other stuff. I tend to use critical duty in full length guns and critical defense in sub compacts . Good ammo costs a good bit at a buck a round, but plinking ammo can be had for 18-20 cents a round. My vote is stay away from steel cased ammo. The money you save will be spent on a new extractor.
