So I love the ECT Power mode as much as the next guy but I’m not a big fan of indicator lights on the dash. Has anyone figured out a way to disable the indicator light on the dash without affecting the ECT Power function? Would also be interested in installing an ECT Power button with an on/off indicator (similar to the BSM/Qi buttons).

    Thanks!

It’s controlled through the ECU. So no easy way to disable the light.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

Edit: @mesojdm I just saw you are working on a 2nd version of your ECT mod. Will this still have the dash indicator?

Pop the cluster out, unscrew the back half, Then crack it apart and get to the PCB. First option is put some tape over the LED. Truck will not know the difference. More intricate would be desolder and relocate the led to the ECT button. But that’s a lot of work just to see the light gone imo

Covering the LED behind the cluster doesn’t sound too bad. When you say “crack it open” is it glued like a headlight housing or just screws/clips?

Huge downside to that intricate solution is that if you sold the truck without reversing it, you’d be a dick.
