Hey guys. Roadside assistance during a tire change, banged up my truck a couple months back. I started a thread here.

There is a a lot good information about the differences in skids which was brought up. here mainly for 2nd generation Tacoma: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/aftermarket-skid-plate-reviews.307109/

I am going to compile a list of all the aftermarket skids I can find and the differences in coverage and price. I am researching more before I purchase my skids. I will compile the list and links this week but one think I would like from you guys is reviews of your skids that I can put in the top section and pictures of them for 1st Generation. Which I think may include many early 4Runner models
Lots of good info to follow, I promise.

    Under construction here:

Researching because I am in need of new skid plates for my: 1st Generation, 2001 Tacoma, Trim level: Double Cab V6 4WD -Automatic Transmission

Looks like there is many options for aftermarket skid plates in 2nd generation Tacoma's, where would I find other on ones comparable for the 1st generation??

I want to do research and create thread for 1st generation skid plates.
    I have a 1st Generation, 2001 Tacoma. V6, 4X4

So far here are options I found for 1st Generation.

RCI Metal works option for the :
RCI 96-02 4Runner Front Skid Plate

    -------------------------------------------------------

    & Budbuilt.com's option for the:

    1995.5-2004 TACOMA SKID PLATE -

Both items seem great and I spoke with both companies and they both show expertise, any one else have experience with these 1st generation skid plates?

I could also go for a lighter option:

I also noticed Pro Comp has this Pro Comp® 57195 - Engine Skid Plate

I need to replace OEM skid plate and I don't think I need anything heavy duty.

Yet OEM ones are ridiculously overpriced and aftermarket seem like the way to go.

Thanks for the info, so far RCI seems like the best option for me as I do not need anything to heavy duty and RCI's skids come with a powder finish included in the price.

If any one knows of any other options I'd appreciate it. Its a toss up so far between RCI and BUDBUILT.COM still..
