So I installed my D2s stage 3 kit on my 2014 2 or 3 years ago and I've been in love with them untill recently. The passenger side hasn't been firing... the set up is a d2s stage 3, 5500k, 35watt and i opted for the canbus setup. Knowing the canbus setup was not ideal for the truck, I chose them so I didnt have a factory h4 harness not plugged into something. So I contacted TRS and of coarse the customer support was amazing. They talked me into swapping parts to the drivers side to pin point the problem. I determined it was the ignitor. They sent me a new bulb and a fresh ignitor. Worked for about 3 days and now its failing again.... any of ya'll have any ideas?

A few mods here and there and counting....
You could swap out the canbus setup to a TRS h4 harness? Mine has been flawless for 4 years and counting. My first retrofit w their earlier version of the harness was also flawless for 3 years. Then again, could be luck of the draw with the ignitor.

Have you checked the bulb or igniter to make sure the igniter is making full contact with the bulb?

Another thing to check is the ground. I went through a ton of part swapping with TRS trying to find the issue until I finally check my ground. I had it tight and in a good location, but the terminal was barely crimped on and it was just kinda wiggling around only making good contact half of the time. Put a new one on and no problems ever since!

That’s what ended up happening with my old D2S kit.

update for the followers, as @ty.s07 said, my ignitor wasnt fully seated... resulting in an arc that melted the plastic. no contact with the bulb. TRS is sending me a new ignitor! def going to pay more attention to installing the ignitor!

That’s exactly what happened to mine. Melted plastic on the bulb and all. Glad you got it solved and TRS is taking care of you.

Are yours the orange colored igniters? My original kit came with the orange igniters and honestly they were good for a few years until one started shorting out on the bulb causing it to work intermittently.

I rebuilt my retrofit using new headlight housings and the D2S 5.0’s about a month ago and I noticed the Morimoto ballast and igniters have been redesigned and seem to fit better.

They shouldn't break. It's a soft push and twist. I know Morimoto igniters fail a lot but break, never heard of such a thing. If I were you I would go with OEM Denso.
