Looking to get some feedback on these Toyota filters. I just cut mine open. I was inspecting it and looking to see how well these filters are made. I noticed that the filter media is sandwiched together pretty tightly and I was wondering how oil could pass through but once I cut open the media I notced it has a textured effect that would allow small pockets of oil to travel through which looks to be a good design. In the third photo it shows me holding a section that I cut away lengthwise and squeezed together to show the small pockets that would allow oil to flow through even with the pleats being folded tightly over against one another. After looking a little further I realize with out end caps on the filter element it would seem to me that oil could pass through these open pleats of the media and would allow oil to pass through unfiltered. In the first photo I have a yellow arrow to show where I believe dirty oil could possibly pass through. what do you think?

I was under the impression that the oil path is inside to out, meaning, it comes from the center then gets forced outwards (under pressure, of course) towards the exterior housing. Kind of like a reverse osmosis filter.

It actually comes around the outer edges of the filter then passes through the media then into the center then out into the engine
