Stubborn ass sway bar

Just installed my Dakars HD. Working on getting the OME 888s on my Bilstein 5100s. Sway bar is being a bitch. I thought you didn't have to fight to get this thing off?!

I'm gunna end up taking both front shocks out and letting the front end swing loose and see if I can wiggle out the sway bar. Otherwise I'm taking off those two front brackets that connect the front cross member to the lower crash bar assembly.

 

Lol getting close to it. 4 hours so far on the install. Dakars were much easier than I thought they'd be.

 

Take those braces off it and it comes right out.

 

Truck looks pretty new should be easy. Are you deleting the sway bar?

 

Yup. Taking it out for good.

Yeah top and bottom bolts of the bracket with the rubber isolator .

 

None of the bolts or nuts are giving me issues. Just the clearance to remove the sway bar is non existent. I'll most likely take those two front to back bracket things off.

 

My eibach kit came with a relocation... was required for mine.

Loosen the radiator support and remove the nut on one side, then just drop it forward and out.

 

Yep you got it remove the brackets.

 

I pulled those brackets on mine.
Or atleast one of them.

 

Heck yeah, mines been off for a year, it’s way better for wheeling. You’ll get body roll but I switched my fox springs to 14” 650lbs and it took care of most of it.

 

Yup you're right. It's the radiator support not crash bar.

 

Yep got rid of mine 2 years ago. No issues. I also dont jerk the wheel on the freeway too.

 

Ive ran without on my FJ and 4runner, cant imagine the Tacoma being any different. Its fine as long as you drive mindfully, felt a little more compliant too.
