Taco Garage - Dashtop Multi-Mount (DMM) - Securely mount ANYTHING to your dash

I use a surface pro on a tablet mount for my teenage to watch stuff in the passenger seat from time to time. Very little movement on the tablet and it feels plenty solid to me. I'm not at all concerned about problems with the bracket using the surface.

At the same time as the surface, I always have my phone mounted to the other side, and a little mirror so I can see the toddler in the back seat if needed.

I’ve had this mount for a while now and it is by far one of my favorite mods. I have three ram balls mounted which suits my needs currently. Install was simple and I can’t recommend enough for someone needing a clean mounting system. Great design!

 

TRY it, if you don't think it sturdy enough I WILL TAKE IT BACK. It does rely on the plastic but the design makes it so that the loads are evenly distributed throughout the part, I think you'll be happy.

 

As with all the others, I installed this thing and it is awesome. Can’t even tell it’s there. Extremely sturdy and perfect location for viewing whatever device you want. Excellent job guys.

 

Would you mind if I use the picture on the first page of the thread to show others examples of people’s set ups?

 

Anyone tried this with 3m tape? Obviously bolts work better but for those not doing iPads and large screens, seems like it would work.

OP- any tests early on with successes or failures?

 

The nutplate for the RAM balls is on the inside. So, you won't get any attachment with just tape.

 

So the visible dash portion isn’t threaded? The bars on the inside of the dash are what is?

In-Dash hidden universal mount, RAM compatible.

 

@tonered beat me to it, but yes the threaded part is on the underside plates, the top plate distributes the loads throughout the top and down to each of the four bottom plates, that's part of what makes it so stable, it doesn't matter where you mount your accessories the loads will be distributed by the top plate.
having a threaded piece on top and taped on would be way too flimsy in my opinion I don't think you would be able to mount things using an arm, the arm multiplies the torque and would easily rip off the tape or at the very least would be shaking like crazy.

funny you should ask, there actually is a code already, TW021910 and I will be posting a video in a few minutes on the latest revision of the power module, I just finished recording it

 

The following video is a CAD model of the DMM top plate and ball along with the latest revision of the charging module that I am working on, the module is housed inside of that block and has only one USB-A port for now, I am working on making it 3.0A and possibly even Quick charge 2.0 and 3.0 compatible
The module is secured by one of the ball mounts which means it does not take up any additional mounting locations, except maybe one for the wires to go through.
It also has a cylinder that should cover up the silver metal stem of the ball with black to make it look better.
All you gotta do is feed 12v to it!

Oh btw... I just found out how to add music to the video on the youtube app so now you have to listen to it
