Tough Day in Cleghorn - Damages - Alignment issue? Pre-collision malfunction, cc, stability control

Hey guys,

First post on TW yay! Sad news today. Was up in Cleghorn with some jeeping buddies in the snow/rain/mud and slid into a dirt wall turned completely in drivers side and heard a bang. My alignment is now about 15 degrees clockwise to drive straight and the truck leans right. Now I have all these malfunctions and warnings. Anyone else run into these issues after hitting a rock or messing up their alignment? I am wondering if I should go the dealer, try to get someone to check the alignment, or go through insurance.

Did I mention I also 3 wheeled my way into destroying the back left bumper panel and part of the taillight? I am thinking of whether or not to get a HC bumper to replace this instead.


BSM and sonar are all not working because of the sensors being half disconnected. (I ziptied them to the plastic).

Any tips, suggestions, thoughts on estimated costs, comments are totally welcome.

Delete thread and talk with insurance

 

The steering wheel/rack is out of whack. Reading the wrong angle for the vsc. You will have to get that reset.... sometimes the alignment shop can do it if they are good.

 

Check your front ABS sensors............taking one of them out can cause all kinds of issues.

 

Stock tires? Sorry OP.

 

That’s an expensive day of wheeling.

OP, sorry to hear about this. After the shop fixes the steering and alignment, you can put a higher clearance aftermarket rear metal bumper on yourself.

Sorry to read this OP. Seems like Cleghorn claims a lot of damage. I do it it on my enduro bike but because of the deep ruts, narrow paths and slippery condition this time of year, I won’t take my Taco, even with my skids/sliders as it’s my daily driver. Seems super easy to slide off path and into a horrible line on those trails. Happens on my bike too. The other side of the 138, trails from silverwood to big bear are more friendly. Hope you get this taken care of. My recommendation is this, call your insurance and tell them the truth, you had an accident on a trail and need to file a claim. It makes sure it all gets fixed correctly, and if you want to take the money and put it into a HC bumper/armor you can. But your truck is to nice to not fix properly, and with high repair costs these days, insurance might be your best option.

I used to go up there all the time in my old pathfinder, even though it was my daily driver I never cared about banging it up.
The taco is a whole different thing, especially a long bed with stock tires with no bite.

From that pic it looks like you're on your way to dove tailing and a high clearance bumper!

What happened after I went through that section...

 

It's a fun trail.... but in a stock or close to stock truck should never be on the off chutes. Cleghorn claimed my rear bumper and gave me radical vsc issues also. I have done the trail numerous times in my 17 2wd.... yes even the off chutes... anything going down and anything I thought i could make it up.

I agree, fun trail for sure. But Traction is everything there. I do the off chutes too, my sliders have saved my cab there multiple times going up some rocky sections. Heck going down one of the off chutes and getting stuck at a steep angle is what forced me to get an exhaust reroute and new high clearance skids. Fun trails but going up that stuff this time of year is risky. The portions in the shadows stay frozen often and any bit of ice/snow make line choosing a gamble still.
