Meaning beyond the 5 yr 60k mile standard powertrain warranty. That’s something to consider with warranties.

Ah I see so yes only extra 2/15 on that I guess. I’m assuming you stated that because there’s obviously better?

I just pulled out my 1 piece of paperwork for this. Makes me wonder if it’s actually a Toyota or third party. The top says tender loving care and near the bottom it says service company and administrator: fidelity warranty services… doesn’t sound like Toyota extended warranty to me. I was also mistaken it’s 7/70 platinum 0 deductible and it was 1736

I’m guessing if it’s really a third party I should cancel it immediately and have them refund back to the principal of the loan and search elsewhere for a better deal non third party?

Like most things in life, warranties are a gamble if you’re concerned about breaking even. Just like Vegas... they didn’t build those awesome casinos by losing, and auto warranties aren’t made available for your benefit. The warranty paybacks are also like Vegas, some win and some lose... it sure is strange that most of my friends always win (in either case, auto warranty and Las Vegas).

If you want the “protection”, and will be happy with having it for a just-in-case event, then do it..! Maybe you’ll win, some people do.

Honestly I really don’t know the details of the warranties. What I do know is on a new Toyota vehicle an extended warranty is rarely used so it’s a waste.

On a used vehicle, yes get a warranty. Especially a Jeep or a Subaru :(

Yes I understand. I do want a ext warranty but I don’t want a third party and I want more. This was my first time buying a new vehicle/loan so I was truly green and obviously they smelled it

No I meant cancel the current one that seems to be third party “fidelity “ now and possibly get a new one before the factory warranty is up.

That sounds like a plan I’d get a second opinion, I’m no expert

I bought the warranty on mine. 10 years 100k zero deductable. I paid about 1,400 for it.

I was first offered around 1800 and I said no. Then it was 1600, then 1500, then 1400 lol. I just kept saying no and they kept dropping the price. Still said no at 1400 and at the last minute right when I was signing stuff the guy was like ok ok, what if we give you an extra $250 on your trade? That really made it less than 1200 at point so I said yes.

After thinking about it I am glad I got it, especially at that price. Even if I don't use it $1200 for years and years of peace of mind is worth it to me. If I never end up using it then I still won't regret it. Peace of mind is something that is becoming a lot more valuable to me as I get older.

This is the quote I received for Toyota Extra Care Platinum $0 deductible. This was through Wolverine Toyota in Michigan, a dealership that does a lot of online warranty sales. This was for a 2wd Tacoma so I imagine the 4wd would be a bit more.

Tried to haggle at $800 and it was a no go haha, ended up at $1,500 myself for the Toyota 7yr/100k. I never think I get a good deal on anything from a dealer. It's like come on I bought three vehicles from you guys in the past 3 years and you'll only give me 10% off the SEMA wheels...Jeesh freaking dealers gotta make every penny they can squeeze. No such thing as a good deal from a dealer.. End rant my apologies.
