LOL, I bought my first one, pictured in my profile pic, in Dec 2017. Totaled at 819 mi in mid-Feb 2018. Got my current one, which is the same as the first one, in mid-Apr 2018.

OUCH! totally OUCH! well you must be OK since you posted here personally I would want it to be written off as totaled since too many "Repair" jobs of this type never really are as good as the original and seem to develop a bad case of the Gremlins after the repair.....

The good thing is your resale value is super high. If you were driving a 2 month old Chevy you've probably lost 25% out the door. I don't know about the TRD OR's, but I pretty much got full value for my Pro. I think I was out about $50 or something at the end of the day.

When my 2013 was totaled in 2016 the buyback price was 13k. The person who's insurance hit me made their first offer they let me know they were not going to take possession of my truck, so their offer was less salvage. I immediately rejected that and went through my insurance company who bought the vehicle off me, so I got settlement + sales tax. Had salvage value been $1,000-2,000 I'd have bought it back and parted it, but otherwise you're in for a huge uphill battle to breakeven.

This will not help you at the moment, but it is well worth investigating the new car replacement add-on for the next truck, if you go new. As I mentioned above my 2013 was totaled in 2016. At that point my agent mentioned to me that for $50/year I could get the add-on plan that would give me new car replacement for the first 12 months of ownership, OEM replacement parts for 3 years (June of the prior year being day 1, ie June of 2015 for a 2016 model) and upped the rental coverage. I added it to my then-new Tacoma as well as my wife's Mazda we had purchased in February of 2016.

Fast forward to October 2016 and I got hit and sent two wheeling into a telephone pole. The Mazda was totaled. I ended up getting MSRP + sales tax, less 1/2 the destination charge (which was BS and I fought about) which was well over what we paid for the car new.

That pic you posted didn’t seem very bad at all. Was there more damage you didn’t post? Looked like they could of pulled or straighten that one spot and it would of been ok. Didn’t see any ther pics of the truck other than the small bed crack and that part of the frame that was twisted but couldn’t tell exactly where is was located. Either way I guess it’s in your benefit. I’d much rather have a new truck than one that was damaged

Damage isn’t terrible but I guess toyota specifies not to do any welding to these frames. Although I have seen and heard people say they have had their frames cut and welded, some insurance companies must actually follow Toyota’s recommendations and due a total frame replacement.

Looks like it worked out for ya, congrats on the new 4R
