Figured you do by your avatar, but just wanted to throw it out there although I came into this thread late in the game too. Im sure you will be happy with some fox shocks.

I remember I had a convo with wheelers for a solid 40 min about what coils to get cause at the time I had no idea about icon being digressive, but many of the guys around my area were preaching them. After learning more and knowing I like to drive fast, I went with Kings although back then I cared about color and crap and was hesitant about mixing blue with a red truck. Initially it was fox with their new black and silver color or the Icons as they seemed enticing from their "road manners" cause they related to the TRD billys on my Baja and I liked how those handled.

About a month later and def enjoying my ride with the kings, I get a chance to ride with one of the local TW guys in his rig with icons with resis. JUST like you said, man I felt every bump and his truck felt like we were doing double the speed since it just threw you around so much with how harsh it was. I didn't say it out loud, but I was like "f*ck yea I made the right decision."

Best part, that same dude two years later NOW just threw on kings and isn't looking back at all. Funny thing is he is the third convert from my area to finally ditch the icon pride and cross into the blue.

I look forward to your experience with fox.

I’m switching over to some fox, hopefully these are a bit softer at lower speeds. Maybe later on if I don’t like Fox then I’ll go to kings

Your gonna like the fox ride compared to icons. Did you go with the DSC adjusters?

Yes I also cared about color and since my UCA are JBA red I was like ehhh kings are bright blue so it’ll look kind of funky but now I regret not getting Kings lol

I think the fox dsc has more click adjustments than the kings do so I bet you can really dial your ride in man. My rear was fun to play with back when I had clickers on my smoothies.

Ended up going with kings. No adjusters, but it’s a big difference between these and icon. Kings are a lot softer and not so back breaking. I also noticed they didn’t need much adjusting to get a 3in lift as where my icons needed almost 2in of preload just to be at 2.5in.
    KING FTW

The blue is the best part! It stands out a lot and I really like it. Only thing I would change is my uca color

14” spring makes a big difference huh?

Glad you got it solved my dude. When your truck rides like you want it to, it’s a huge weight off!

Yup! I had no idea how little compression the taller springs needed.

That’s cause they are preloaded more just putting them on the shock body.

I ended up with kings and they are definitely softer. Only thing I can suggest for icon is to air down when off-roading.

All my friends in VA eventually went to kings as well. Its unfortunate how much hype they have for their stuff that many dont always know what they are buying.

650 lb spring is too much for a stock truck Tacoma. Either need to add weight or swap coils, ICON builds these thinking that the end user will usually at least skids, sliders, or bumpers if not all the former (aluminum bumpers excluded, tacoma's come stock with an aluminum crash bar, aluminum bumper only adds 20-30 lbs over stock. 650 + 650 adds 100 lbs over stock 600 + 600 springs so of course you will be over-sprung.) It is better to have softer spring and 1-2" of preload (fine-tuning ride height and for handling). Contrary to belief, preload is good for handling. Only with excessive preload on too heavy or too light of spring extremes does it become a problem. Reference videos below:

I'm just going to throw this out there.

There are a multitude of reasons of why different manufacturers have different ride qualities. Preload is just one variable. King tends to be a favorite to users who like a softer ride, but only a handful of people understand why.

I just helped a friend who was about to give up on his Icon's achieve a ride quality that he is happy with.

It bugs the crap out of me when people make suggestions without support.

Indeed, everyone likes to throw crap at a manufacturer for their coilover construction for they're valve/tune on their shocks. But bearing witness to my post a few posts up, they need to learn how to tune their spring first. Otherwise the valving in the shock becomes irrelevant.
