    Suggestions for a not-going-to-break-the-bank telescope for casual stargazing while out camping? Needs to be fairly compact and quick to setup-teardown as well.

    I run a C90Mak spotting scope. Pretty compact, still high quality optics. That or some good wide field binocs if you don't want a tripod.

    I think you would be mostly disappointed in any smaller scope. I had bought a 120mm scope that is fairly large thinking I would see everything. About the only thing that looked better was the moon. Stars still looked like stars, planets didn't look much better. The only thing I did see was faintly the rings of Saturn. It did not have a tracking motor which meant by the time you focused on something it would fly out of view. In the end I gave it away to a kid that might enjoy it for a while.

    A good set of binoculars with a tri-pod attachment would be my suggestion. I'll see if I can get some pics of mine. They are great for when I want to see something without busting out the 10" Dobsonian.

    Eradicating pigs is basically impossible on the mainland. Even islands are difficult and that is a closed system. On one of the islands off S. California there are some endangered species that were severely threatened by feral pigs. They brought in professional hunters, but could not get the last and smartest group. Finally they tagged a domestic pig with a radio transmitter and let it go. It quickly turned feral and joined the remaining group. They then tracked that pig and killed it last.

    Florida has so many invasive species due to pet trade and temperate-tropical environment its ridiculous.
