For those with 2nd gens and 4.88 is it pretty standard for the front diff to spit a bit of gear oul through the breather each time 4wd is engaged?

I just spoke to ECGS about this last week. Mine does the same thing but it always does it. Not just in 4wd. It’s pretty minimal, but looks like shit when its all over the inside of the wheelwell and all the suspension.
I was told that there is some fluid that got into the ADD and is getting pushed out through the breather. Not hurting anything other than looking like shit.
He said to fix it, pull ADD clean it out and reseal. Also blow out and clean out breather tube.

depending on vehicle, the upper mounts wont fit the eyelet with the body so close. I had to mount mine upside down on my Silverado. But i twisted the resi enough to not have the house hanging out like that.

I ran over a brick on the freeway that ripped some plastics off my car, pretty sure that brick would sever his res lines.

But it's color matched, dude! Gotta be worth at least 25 horses. But if it gets him hooked up I suppose it's worth more than butt dyno.

Ugh... I really don't want to drop the front diff again anytime soon.. such a pain in the ass. Maybe I'll wait till 30k oil change.

I’d have to look, but he made it sound like you can get to it while still in the truck.

I'd imagine you could pull the ADD if you could get a wrench on all four bolts but the diff breather?

Been a while since i did mine.
I thought I attached the breather after it was in. Can’t recall. I hate the thought of having to pull it also.

Might have to call in @Iggy for the small hand work

When I swapped diffs, I accessed the breather after dropping the diff a bit. But if the guys from ECGS says it's doable with it in then I'm inclined to believe them because of their experience, I guess there's only one way find out.

    Wrecked!
I know the breather part is accessible as mine fell off mid install. Had t put it back on after it was in. Pain in the ass but with the right needle nose pliers it's not bad.
As for add tube I have no clue seems like it would be a bitch still on the truck. As ut was a little challenging getting it together on a table. With a lift it might be a lot easier then on the ground.
