Bahía de los Angeles is a great place to get a dose of Baja!

Man, I had a blast in Loreto a couple of years ago. Def one of my most memorable trips. Wish I hadn't lost most of my pics from the trip.

Sweet! Nice, you saw California's first two missions, as well! Loreto, 1697 and San Javier, 1699. San Diego is actually the 19th California mission (1769), but you aren't taught that in school or in most books!

It was a nice history lesson. You could definitely feel the history when touring the inside.

Baja just never gets old! The desert near Cataviña, boojum trees, and blue palms tell you that you have arrived on Planet Baja!

The above photos are from my March 2017 road guide research trip. The Road Guide publishing is on hold due to the virus. Baja is very photogenic!

Just want to keep a good thread alive... Baja California is just waiting for the Covid-19 restrictions to be lifted so we can return again!

A few decades ago a bunch of us would head down to Bahia de Los Angeles. We'd be there in one form or another for a month or more with folks drifting in and out. On the last trip a hurricane hit, destroyed what roads their were and worst of all the police/military all but held us hostage. We had to pay a "fee" to get a permit to travel. Yea, like that was a real thing. Of course if we had left our boats the "fee" would have been waived. That was the last time for us. Too bad as we brought a lot of money in to the small town nearby our camp site.

When we did eventually get in touch with our embassy/consulate folks they basically said, it's Mexico there's nothing we can do. Prettier words but to the same effect. Oh, they did say we could file a claim with the Mexican consulate in Los Angeles when we got back. I swear foreign service folks must have to take lessons at the laugh factory to qualify.

Been going to Baja for over 50 years and to L.A. Bay since 1967. Nothing like that has ever happened to me or all my friends who have vacation homes there. Don't let this aberration steal your dream of seeing Baja in person.
