I noticed water from from the bed hole drain runs, dribbles to the front of the wheel well onto the front leaf spring where it is connected to the frame. (I can see why they would squeak on some trucks) I see rust on the brake line connection where it is fastened to the frame in that same area also.

You have to use the correct oil, like seasoning a cast iron skillet. Vegetable oil. :D

Refined avocado oil has a smoke point over 500*. If one is getting their brakes that hot on the street, they need to ease off the loud pedal.

I usually pick up OEM parts or quality aftermarket parts either to install myself or bring to my personal mechanic. In the interest of time I brought my Taco to Meineke - full brake service. Unlike the Toyota OEM rear drums which are coated, my nice alloy wheels are backdropped by a bright orange rust. The markup on the Meineke invoice exceeded Toyota's OEM parts pricing. Arggh, never again. Is there a "sheet metal cover" that could be placed between the wheel and the brake? I searched online and nothing came up. It wouldn't need to be thick, just a cover, matte black would be fine. Being thin I'm guessing it wouldn't affect balance or offset.

I hit the drums with a wire brush and paint every tire rotation, also use a little Anti-Seize on the mounting surface of the wheels.

Swap your front disks out for drums for a more uniform look.
