Why do people think it is OK to drop their dog poop anywhere?

Yes. As a business we pay for trash removal for the business not the public. The public has trash removal from the city provided in part by the taxes from our property and business. So yes we pay for trash removal, for their dog pOOp, if they put it in our dumpsters we pay twice.

By weight no but it's the principle of the matter. Neighbors see someone dumping poop and then all of a sudden people are dumping large items that the city won't pick up. (Which has happened too!)

We were in discussions with the city for adding fencing and a lock and are currently in a standstill because the dumpster fencing would need a variance because of how close we would have to construct the fence to the side walk in order for the trash truck to get access.

    1st, I didn't know it was a business. Sorry.

I dont even have the option to pay out of pocket for trash pickup at my home, and I also do not have county, or city pickup. (read: I live in the sticks).

Do you live in an area where your tires will get slashed if you make a big deal about it? Im not saying you should have to tolerate it, by any means. But what I am saying, is with life being as short as it is, is this a hill you are willing to die on? If it is, press charges for illegal dumping.
Also, didnt fully read the thread. All i read was people throwing poop in your dumster. In VA, illegal dumping is a big deal and you will be prosecuted for it.

No worries. It's funny irony though now that I have a dog that I take for walks I always take bags and in 7 months of having her she hasn't 1 time pooped while I'm walking her.

On garbage night, twice a week, my cans are at the curb. Neighbors walking their dogs drop their bags and water bottles in my trash all the time.

Here's the weird thing, it doesn't bother me a bit. It doesn't change my utility bill, it doesn't hinder me from throwing my hard-earned trash away, it doesn't cost me any time or labor. If anything it means I'm not picking it out of my yard, and I'm happy about that. Most of the time they even use the recycling can correctly, (if it's plastic).

Go on the nextdoor app and like you, other neighbors are absolutely foaming at the mouth over the principle of the thing. I honestly don't get it. I'll gladly donate trashcan space if it helps keep the neighborhood tidy. o_O

Me, I'd rather save my rage for a more worthwhile cause, like that damn Ridgeline that blocks my mailbox. Screw that guy.

Foster City, Ca., a once purely pristine town worthy of being on postcards, is now the dogshit capital of the world. Forgive this following statement, but since the gradual influx into this town of a "certain persuasion of people", every single neighborhood park is just a huge stinkhole of dog droppings....mainly SMALL dog droppings. They run their little pocket rats into these parks and no embellishing, literally let those dogs take a dump not on the grass, but right on the walk paths. It's so bad the city workers have all but given up on the idea of cleaning up after them. Anyone in the Bay Area, if you go through Foster City, just take a look at one of those parks and see if I'm lying. Sad.

I had a neighbor lady call me and ask me to stop putting dog poop in her garbage bin. Not only am I a consensus dog owner and always pick after my dog, but I even pick up after other dogs & dog owners that don't pick up after there own dogs. To give you an idea where I live; I live in a town house association of 36 owners. I live on the end of my row, right near the alley. I can see multiple people walking there dogs down our alley. This lady lives on the end of the block. This is not a private alley. She called me because I think I was the only phone number she had, and because I was on the board at the time. I told her this was not of my doing but someone else's doing. It might have been a member of my association but I don't think so. I could have been anyone walking there dog down a Public Alley.
