So i've tried using the search bar feature and looking up 3rd gen transmission problems. but nothing comes up plus the only ones i remember seeing are about leaking 3rd members and d to r lags. mine (now @ 46,660 miles ) has now developed a 2nd to 3rd ( could be 3rd to 4th hard to tell what gear its taking off in with these newer cars ) gear shake. right after it shifts the rear end jerks like a slipping trans. All happens at low speed 20-35 mph. started a day or so ago. Going to drop her off after i get off work. fingers crossed they can replicate it and don't deem it NORMAL truck
behavior going to hope that they keep it and fix it all.

    Anyone else have these issues?

Go to google, type in 3rd Gen Tacoma Transmission Shifting Problems
and you will get your results. Much better to search that way.

The ecu programming is problematic as well.

I had one of the early 2016s with automatic (build was 10/15).

I had the trans fluid checked - it was .5 low and it made a huge difference once it was topped off. There were lots of trucks underfilled from the factory. I had 20k or so on it before that was done. It seemed to get worse as time went on, or I just noticed it more. If you haven’t had it done, I definitely would, it makes a huge difference. You can easily do a drain & fill in your driveway.

The ecu update helps too, changes the shift logic and fixes some of the weirdness. I had rev1 and I believe there’s been 2-3 additional updates since then.
