Does the 8400 have GPS voice turn-by-turn directions?

Yes. So does google maps and apple maps.

Something else I noticed was that apple car play now gives me the ability to change the volume of just google maps. When I had the 8200-nex I didn't have control over just the nav voice volume so this is a nice feature. Not sure if it came with the 8400-nex or an ios update.

    iDatalink HRN-RR-TO2 Factory Integration Adapter
    American International TOYK971 Dash Kit
    Metra AX-TOYUSB USB Port Cable

I installed the W4400NEX and am curious about the anytime camera mod. Most installs include the 28 pin harness to the factory entune radio, but the pioneer HU doesnt have that. How did you install the anytime camera mod without that?

    Thanks

The only thing that really defines an anytime backup camera is the ability to power the camera and change over to the camera video on demand. That means you have to pull the power from a circuit that is powered when you want to look at the camera (Or whenever the radio is on) and you have to adapt the OEM signal into RCA video.

There is a harness you can buy that gives you an RCA & a hook into the camera power wire.

Have you tried the beta firmware update yet? Did it resolve the display issue?

I have not. Been traveling and ultra cold weather before that didn’t entice me to stay in the garage. However I did clarify that pioneer notified me of a fix actually provided by idatalink for the maestro. Which makes more sense because I don’t have a pioneer account to speak of.

This has been a CarPlay update (presumably through iOS)
I have seen it on every model I've installed down to the cheapest, Pioneer 1300/1330 model. Even going back to an old 4200-nex (same software as 8200) seems to have separate nav/music volume sliders

Thanks for responding so quick. The part I'm confused with is using the physical switch to activate the cameras in the head unit. Do the aftermarket camera buttons work to activate the front camera on the pioneer head unit?

You just adapt the OEM camera harness to an RCA, a ground wire and a 12v or 6v supply wire depending on what your car has. You plug the RCA into the aftermarket input for backup camera. You either power the camera off accessory, remote, ignition or you wire up an OR function between the reverse wire circuit and a switch, but you need to send it the right supply voltage.

You can just change the input whenever you want on the radio to "Camera View" & the radio automatically switches to "Camera View" if you put the car in reverse (& wire the radio correctly).

That's what I figured. I already have a front camera installed and am able to switch to camera view via the pioneer menus. I was hoping for a physical switch as navigating the menus is not ideal. This is a real first world problem, haha. Thanks for answering

You just have to keep the left most button pressed until the camera view pops up and you can switch between front and rear.

Is anyone else who installed this particular unit having audio skipping issues while using wireless Android Auto? I have a Pixel 3, and it skips about once per minute. Wired AA and wireless CarPlay work fine, but not wireless AA.

    Thanks!

For what it’s worth, I updated my Maestro firmware to 2.6 and it did solve the issue.

Also interested in this exact question. I have the standard entune HU, not JBL. Any extra adaptors we need that crutchfield doesn't include?

Getting mine installed professionally on Saturday. So pumped. I absolutely hate the factory headunit. If anyone wants it let me know. It has Nav at least...
