My dumb first truck question

Do I understand this correctly? I can engage 4hi while moving at any speed up to 62 miles per hour and disengage at any speed. Thanks.

 

I wouldn't recommend doing it very often, but according to the manual it's fine. If I have to engage 4wd on the fly, I am usually going pretty slow anyway. I always try to be stopped or going slow when disengaging. Not sure if that's the best way, but it's how I do it.

 

Technically yes that is what the manual states, but most don't engage over 40. Sometimes it can be a finicky/ temperamental system.

Over 55 sometimes wont engage.

I repeat this often, if you can see the road, 2HI, if there's snow, ice, or gravel, 4HI. 4LO is for a trail.

Just make sure your back tires aren’t moving at a different speed than the front tires and it’s fine

I've had my rear wheel lock up when going in to 4-high from a stop, so I make sure I am at least rolling now.
