    The default images are always there (Toyota logo for startup and totally blank screen for display off). You can't make them go away.

    On my 2017 model there are four slots for images for startup and four slots for display off. The default images take up one slot so you have three custom slots for startup and three for display off. When you select "transfer images" from your USB to the unit it writes over the three custom images that are there with what is on your USB. If you have three custom images in the unit's "display off" but only one on your USB you end up with only one custom image on your unit and the other two are erased and are now just blank slots.

    Once you get your images loaded into the unit you can switch back and forth between them.

    The vehicle has to be stopped to get to that menu.

    I don't know if there is a limit. The largest I've used is 16GB and had no problems. Make sure you are naming the folders properly. At least on my '17 model they must be named DisplayOffImage and StartupImage.
