Really the only thing I would use would be the tenting. I already have a design for all the hinges, top, so forth. Thanks for the input. I will make sure to hit them up, and see the price comparison vs making my own.

 

ahah. I am sure he would make a killing. He worked for a company that offered "Pro Deals" and he was able to buy 2 because he has two cars and that was his argument. Don't think ill ever be able to get a deal like that ever again.

 

What are you planning on using for the shell part? Aluminum, fiberglass, something else??

 

My plan is to neither actually. There's a material that similar to "plastic" called HDPE or Starboard. You see a lot of its application in marine products. Has a lifetime warranty on fading/cracking/etc. Comes in back and white, and it probably 1/6th of the price of steel/aluminum. So the plan is to use 3/8" Starboard, all around in black, and white on top, to allow better cooling in the summer. I live in Sacramento, so it gets hotter than hell out here.

Here is how i fit my 50qt ARB behind the passenger seat. Fit perfectly, you may consider a similar platform for your setup. I removed the bench seat and head rest from the passenger side. I recommend putting it behind the passenger unless you are under 6'0" tall. It would be a crunched fit if it was behind my seat and im about 6'1" for reference. The base of your fridge also looks a little wider than my ARB

 

Looks good dude! That’s basically what I am going with. Except I plan on putting my electrical and second battery in the same area. Here’s what I have so far. Obviously still needs a lot of sanding and wrapping with carpet.

I plan on making a drawer on one side only so i can retain one bench seat in the back

 

Project of the day: A small but needed mount for cellphone and other accessories down the road. Got tired of the crappy cellphone mounts that fall apart in 6 months.

Today’s project complete! The fridge now has a home. So does the second battey setup underneath.

 

So, update. I have been trying to find a heavy duty latch for the lid of the camper. I ordered a couple remote latches, try to do a strap type latch from the inside. I stumbled upon jeep wrangler hood latches. Ended up ordering the one in the first picture but really wanted the one in the second picture and didn’t want to spend $100. Well thanks to Amazon, they screwed up and sent me the nicer one. Installed it today and they work like a charm. Use some 5/16 back plates from 80/20.

I use four of those to hold the camper down to the truck. And I honestly can’t complain they work really well

 

DUDE, this is so awesome. I'd love to do the same. Keep your drawings. Maybe you can share them someday.

I think it’s a good alternative to someone who wants to build their own GFC or Vagabond type wedge who has the resources/time to do so.
