On a 2018 DCSB SR5 was the biggest pain in the ass. There’s almost no where to ziptie the wire to on the passenger side. Also the exhaust is right next to the frame. A little concerned About the radiant heat coming off of it and melting the wires. All the install videos said to follow the factory wire loom on the passenger side. But there was none. Then when you finally get to the harness to tap. The red and the green wire. There’s two green wires. A light green and a dark green. So the green wire from the pop&lock goes to the light green wire. And the blue goes to the red.

    Alright /end rant

I didn't find it all that hard myself, but different strokes. If I remember correctly I just zip-tied it to some wires running from the tailgate to the passenger side floorboard area.

I struggle with other stuff people here say is a breeze so hopefully your next mod goes better. It really is something that should be done at the factory though.

Maybe they changed where the camera runs on the 2018? It seemed to go to the drivers side on mine. I followed it out of the tailgate then under the truck it veered off

    I have to laugh.
I watched a couple youtube videos and had a pretty good handle on it before i started.
I ran it up the passenger side attaching it to the rear camera cable until i got to the heat shield. Then I just moved to the other side of the frame from the exhaust.
The install went pretty much as planned.
But... then I went to test it before putting everything back together.
    Nothing... It didn't work.
I jiggled wires. walked through my steps. Checked my connections at the pop n lock itself. Unconnected and reconnected the leads in the tailgate.
    Nothing.

Then I realized, after I spliced into wires under the passenger side kick plate, I forgot to plug the white connector plug back in. Damn!

Works like a charm now. :bananadance::militarypress:

honestly i'd love to have a pop n' lock, but agree it looks like more work/involvement then i want to attempt... I've seen where someone on here now does plug and play harnesses for them. maybe that's the way to go?

If you installed you stealth LED, a pop n lock is even easier. You can do it, there are tons of posts and videos on it.

i'm guessing it's similar to the @mattgecko bed lights i installed. they wires would parallel the same path. Maybe one day i'll get to re-considering the pop n' lock.

On TRD models you can set it to unlock on all doors, or just drivers door. I don't know if the SR and SR5 can do that as well, or if it can only unlock what it is wired to. My truck unlocks all doors and tailgate at same time.

Ok understood, I just had keyless installed, My drivers door opens with one click, and then have to click twice to open passenger. I am going back to him to program the remote for them both to open one click. He told me it is a no charge to change it. So if I have this kit with me I will have him install this for me. I contacted him as I would like the full kit and the pricing, as he mentions pricing can change.
I also send this link to my installer to make sure he will do this for me.

I thought it looked cool until I saw how involved it was.... Fuck it, I drive a manual, my normal key is already out and ready to use.

Ignore YouTube, follow Toyota’s install procedure, (pdf is online if you search). run along drivers side and install in drivers side kick panel. It’s far easier, no exhaust and nothing else in the way. you just follow and zip tie to the main wiring harness that’s already running along the frame.
It’s the exact same procedure for the Toyota rear bed LEDs, so do that at the same time if that’s something else you want to do in the future. You remove the exact same interior panels, feed wires into cab at exactly same point, run wires along frame at exactly same place. Just different connections in the kickpanel.

I thought it was super easy. But I love taking stuff apart to see how it works. I followed this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehiS8HVTRkc

Thought it was pretty straight forward and works perfectly. Unlock: 1 click for just my driver door, 2 clicks for all doors and tailgate. Lock: 1 click to lock everything. Should come from the factory with these.

I just did mine yesterday. It took a few hours, most of the time was spent finding good spacers for mounting the actuator. Running the cable was easy just have to make sure it is secure.I ran it up the passenger side through the rubber plug under the seat. I also drilled a hole in each of the factory plastic grommets the existing wire goes through.

I also bought the plug in harness from @KTJO 4x4 which worked great. Made it real simple, just plug it in!
