4.30 on 35s? That thing must be a dog. I have 4.30s with 33” skinny’s and will be going to 4.88 when I’m out of warranty

Seems different on the 3rd gens but yah I debated 4.3 with him forever to at least go 4.56 with the MT but he likes it. Says its similar to stock. Not anything overgeared. Hes setup on a 3.5" LT camburg setup too and maybe DMZ rear. he likes it so hard to say.

I have 30k miles on 255 85 16s (so 33s). They are heavy, in fact very close to the weight of some 35s ( like 6 lbs each difference). What people are not bringing up is the extra weight in armor that some have. If you run 33s, and have a front/ rear high clearance bumper, Full steel skids, sliders, rtt and rack, plus fully loaded, you will want to re gear 100 percent. I dont have a bumper installed yet, but i do have skids, sliders, and bed rack with rtt and 33s, and I want to re gear. If you ever plan on re gearing, Id just say go 529s. Because after spending all that money on the re gear, the question is, why WOULDNT you go 35s at that point.

Other than looks I think 35s have more negatives than positives compared to a 33. A fully armored truck on 33s will do about anything one on 35s will do with less sacrifice

I dont think so. It all depends on what you are using your truck for. I mean its a different topic entirely, for its own post. I will however say that dd'ing a truck 35 miles each way for work (i do) i wont get 35s until my beater gets nicer.

I went up to 33s on stock gears and it didn't seem much worse
    but
then I changed to 4.88s and it's a HUGE difference. A lot of people who stay on stock gears say there isn't much difference and it's a waste of money but it's mostly cause they haven't experienced 33s on gears. I haven't heard one person who has actually gone to a 4.88 or 5.29 gearing setup say that it wasn't completely worth it, in fact, lots say it's the best mod they did. Even on stock tires
Mind you this is all specific to 3rd gen since 2nd gen has a different motor/trans setup. 3rd gens really reap the benefits of gearing much better

Yup! I went with 285/70/17 which are just a tad smaller in diameter then 33”. Just regeared to 4.88 and WOW! Lovn the way my truck drives now. Worth every penny.

What is the difference you feel between the two? Lugging, slow start?

I do daily and its not that bad compared to stock. It still gets up and goes when I put my foot into it.

I know this is third gen thread but holy shit really??

    I am on 285/70/17's on stock gearing and I am a hair under 2000rpm @65mph. Once I go over 70mph I am around 2200-2300.

Gearing tables are done @ 1:1 which is normally 4th gear, not 5th or 6th. I believe that is the only reason you are seeing that at those speeds.
