Lose it! You’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner. It’s not a race car. Drive it like the truck it is.

    Yeah. 50 miles away haha

Loose it if you intend to use it regularly off-road.

Trying to fix as best as possible the fubar passenger side frame horn. This is what I'm working with.

The plan is to reinforce both frame horns at the bottom where the recovery point mounting holes are with 1/4" plate that I cut to about 14" long. Going to weld those to the bottom of the frame. This will hopefully give me a more solid and hopefully flatter mounting surface for the new bumper. It's a DIY weld up bumper which should allow me to make adjustments for the additional plate.

Primed the bottom of the 2 plates in hopes that it will help prevent corrosion. Not weld thru primer but it's better than nothing. I hope.

I want to take mine off too but since I do a lot of backroads and highway driving I’m afraid it would compromise the safety. Last thing I want is to roll it or cause an accident if I had to go around something or slam on brakes. I don’t think the 550lb springs would be enough to act as a sway either. ORIs for the first gen would be awesome because they act as a sway bar as well.

Does anyone know what you call the type of switch that the O/D button is?

I need a switch like that so if I have something wired directly to the battery it will always cut off when I turn the key off.

    Not a fan of Oris.

550? What you have ome coils? You'll be fine. It's really not that bad. And if you offroad makes a huge difference. Hell rides better in town for the most part too

Great headway now take a grinding wheel and round that inside corner where you remove material. Even if you are welding over it, that is a horrible habit to start.

In the futures take a 1/4 or 1/8 inch bit and drill your inside corner out. Like you would using a jig saw. It will be cleaner cut and you wont have created a tare point.

Great tips for next time I do something like that, thanks. Already have the driver side burned in, about to start on the passenger side. I'll clean that corner up some more first.

I'm not completely sure what you are asking...
The overdrive switch on the shifter is a momentary switch, but that itself isn't going to achieve what you are asking for.

What happens is when the truck shuts off, the ECU in the truck effectively resets the state of Overdrive being turned off. When you press the overdrive switch, it tells the ECU to disable it.

One option to achieve what you want is to wire up a relay that has both 12V directly from the battery as well as a signal from the Ignition circuit that will shut it off when you turn it off. Then you can have either a momentary or another type of switch that lets you control that relay from inside the cab while the truck is on.

I agree with everything you wrote. I just like to only change one thing at a time, and make sure everything is good to go before changing the next thing. Probably unnecessary, yes, but couldn’t hurt.

Cleaned up and trimmed a little more off the passenger side plate. Then realized I did it all with the plate uside down from what I originally intended...:anonymous:

So I primed the other side and am giving that a minute to dry before proceeding.

Upgraded my son's factory head unit to a Pioneer touch screen, front and rear factory speakers replaced with Polk audio 522 db 5x7s and added a rockford phosgate amp along with a 12 inch Sundown sub with 1.8 cuft Qbomb enclosure. It sounds great with some serious bass for only one12. Taking off the door panels and putting them back on was a slight pain in the ass at times but not too bad.

Nope. Eibachs. The 700 that came with the ADS was way to much. Even with no preload it wild sit way too high, just over 3”. So I swapped for the 550 and with zero preload I get 1.75” of lift over stock. Much better ride.

I just diconnected them today. Eats up bigger bumps much better but more sway obviously. Guess I’ll leave it and decide if I want to leave it.

Exactly were do I tap into the ignition? I need a guide for this. I don’t know anything about relays, fuses, or where to tap into things that’s not too invasive.

Without a sway bar will you need limiting straps? Let me know how it handles after.
