Hi and thanks to be part of this forum!

Quick into - have driven Silverados and Sierras for the past 14 years. I currently have a 2014 GMC 2500 6.0L with just over 100k on the clock. It was great in the rural mountains hauling firewood etc. but now live in the an urban flatland environment. It has served well but now it's a PITA driving and parking this beast. So...thinking about getting a new 3rd Gen. Doing lots of research and reading posts on TW and there is great info to be found. Have a couple dealerships nearby and will definitely be doing some test drives soon.

With all that said, I'm not a big fan of bells and whistles. To be honest, my wife and I don't even use a cell phone. I do like reliability good traction. We kayak, camp, fish, and all that good stuff. Plus two BIG dogs (110+ lbs each). So I'm trying to figure out what I want/need. 4WD for sure, and the 'big' motor as well.

I guess the biggest concern for me right now after reading lots of forums is the seating position. I am so accustomed to a high seating stance with a good view of the road. I know I won't know for sure until I take a couple test drives, but what is your overall opinion? I'm vertically challenged, 5'2''. Any other shorty's out there driving a 3rd gen and how they feel about the seating arrangement?

Anyways, thanks in advance for any info, and I look forward to reading more on this awesome site. Happy weekend!

    Welcome!

I have a 2nd gen, but I've heard of people using seat risers to raise the seat..so it's possible

I can’t really comment on your other needs but as a fellow shorty at 5’3” I feel like I fit well in my 3rd gen. Part of the reason I got it.

Welcome! My seat position is comfortable to me but there are plenty of complaints about them. The 2020 models will come with a power drivers seat, I believe. You may not want to wait that long though. Good luck with your choice!

Haha, neither..a spacer you use at the floorboard. That said my wife is 5 foot 1 and drove a 5 speed 1996 with no issues.

Welcome to TW! The 2020 Tacomas will have an adjustable power driver seat. Seat spacers are an inexpensive option otherwise.
