I’m cutting through Blue Ridge WMA tomorrow on my way to scout some trout streams. I’ll be sure to post the conditions of Hawk Mountain when we pass by.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

What up man? So I wanted to confirm with you that two of my buddies will be joining me with their rigs.

Perfectly fine with me. Should have enough room and I’m sure others will be dropping out. I’ll update the list after I eat

Alright let's go ahead and update this with the location. Since we have about 28 rigs confirmed as 100% (as of 2/16/18 @ 7:00pm) we'll be taking our talents (or lack there of) to Hawk Mtn. on March 1st and not returning until March 3rd. This will be a rain or shine event so regardless we will be out there so pack accordingly. I will try and find a spot that is good enough for all to meet up at a reasonable time for Friday morning, with this many rigs we want to be the first ones at this spot because if not we are basically fooked! So if you Google Hawk Mtn it brings you to the shelter (WE DON'T WANT THAT) We want this area that is fairly close:

    upload_2019-2-16_19-0-18.jpg

So for those coming up on Friday I think we will be meeting at 2328 Nimblewill Church Rd, Dahlonega, GA 30533 and then going up to camp. I just hope we can fit that many rigs at this Church without getting yelled at haha. If not I'll post up where we meet and then have a rig or 2 check the Church before we head up. So if you show up and no rig is there just hold tight and another rig will be there to pick you up, unless you are arriving early and maybe I haven't gotten there yet.

Now for those heading up a different time either Friday night/Saturday etc. I'd just go to the church (like leaving the church heading west) and then take your first left which would be FS-28-1 and follow that road until you get to a fork (not a turn off (pass all of the turn off roads) but like you either go left or right) take the left road (turns into Winding Stair Gap Road).

    upload_2019-2-16_19-24-10.jpg

Follow that all the way up until you hit this spot

    upload_2019-2-16_19-8-38.jpg

Follow that red line by sticking to the right. Then keep going until you see another fork then take the left (it'll be ascending upwards) and go all the way up until it opens up and I bet you'll see some rigs sitting around.

    upload_2019-2-16_19-22-54.jpg

So TLDR: Leave the church heading west, take first left, then at the fork take a left then stick to the right at the "major" intersection. Finally once you hit another fork take the left one that starts to ascend and you'll see the field after a few minutes of driving. It's about a 30-40 minute drive from the church just FYI. Here's a screen shot if you want that too

    upload_2019-2-16_19-14-2.jpg

Also here is the link to this screen shot (if it'll work)

    https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Nim...0x885f719972872adb:0xf200a891fca28a4f!1m0!3e0

I guess you can always use the GPS coordinates: 34.6604059, -84.1377566

Sorry for the super long post on how to get there but I really really really don't want anybody to say "I couldn't find it" and get lost or since they couldn't find the place they never wanna come back out. Please please please let me know if you have any questions. You can always PM me for my number and I can help you out if need be.

Those that are coming up Friday just get to the Church at an undisclosed time (I haven't figured out what a good time is yet, thinking meeting at the church 9:30-10:30ish am not 100%) and you shouldn't have an issue. Hopefully we have service so we can update this thread with pics and drunken BS, directions and what not.

I went up to this area to mountain bike (Jake/Bull System) and stayed at Jones Creek. Cell coverage was non existent, but it could be different if you’re high on a ridge or mountaintop.

It’s a beautiful place though and I can’t wait to be up there. Thanks for putting it together. We’ll see ya’ll later in the afternoon Friday!

Unfortunately, it’s delayed harvest season so heavily enforced catch and release to maintain trout populations. 1-2 fish is negligible but if our whole crew is catching and keeping, it may cause concern.

Yeah Jones Creek area is awesome but zero cell service. Up at the top it’s in and out.

No worries! Glad to have done it and looking forward to it

Managed to get out to Hawk Mountain this weekend to verify all the roads were open and accessible due to the large amount of rainfall we’ve gotten this winter. We actually passed a Ford Taurus wheeling up there. :mudding:

Here are some pictures to further detail @BYJOSHCOOK guidelines he laid out earlier in this thread.
