    Rev. 4 usually works alright

It was a joke, I work within an Engineering department and I just like to give them a hard time.

A brand new member comes to the forum and is happy with his truck.

We could either welcome said new member, or be a bunch of dicks. Plenty of you seem to be good at being a bunch of dicks.....

Some of you are probably just bitter that he actually bought a Pro instead of a bunch of stick-on emblems and the wheels to look the part.

I think that is why you see so many posters that view, but don't post. I never thought a truck forum would be so inflammatory and divisive.

    Hey OP,

It’s been a blizzard where I live. I’ve been driving two vehicles through it, both modern 4WDs: My 2017 Taco OR and my 2018 F15O FX4 work truck.

The Taco has no specific “snow” mode like the ford does in 4Hi, so I did a bunch of back and forth testing.

What I have found is the Tacoma is way more planted an capable in the snow. The Toyota VSC and traction control systems seem to do a better job than the fords under similar conditions. Both trucks are on winter tires. Not truly comparable vehicles, but if I had to choose only one to get me to safety, it would be the Taco.

Anyways.......Toyota’s are not invincible in the snow, but they are pretty damn good. The electronic “nannies” work awesome. Your truck looks great.

    No, I bought this:
    20190131_155023.jpg
Tires tires tires. With that said, the Tacoma (and Tundra) have a really good and useful VSC system that works well on slick roads. 4WD and tires to get you started.
VSC and tires to keep you going around turns.
Brakes and tires to get you stopped.

    Notice a common component? ;)

I do a lot of ice fishing in Wisconsin we just got about 14” of snow in the last storm. While almost every other truck was stuck I was traveling all over the lake blasting through over a foot of snow and drifts as high as 3 feet. I am definitely impressed with the Tacoma! I tested it to the max! I had a shovel I never needed to use. While tires do have a very large impact the trucks design aka ground clearance, weight distribution, and 4wd system are definitely a major contributor to its performance. Don’t be a know it all negative person Duane. Pretty sure your pinto wouldn’t of made it off the landing. Lol

Congrats to the OP you did buy a snow machine. I’ve owned lots of vehicles and this is by far the best I’ve driven in the snow and ice.

Living in northwest Indiana and having driven through years of snow on the expressway I agree.

I'll second that. The GY Kevlars have been really good thru rain, snow and light off-roading. Their wear life sucks though. I have 41K on them and down to 3/32 tread on a "60k" tire.

I caught a laugh at this yesterday as I drove up I-5 to Seattle. This was somewhere in the Shasta NF. Tires, experience and faith in your vehicle will get you through the snow and ice!

As for the pissing contest in the thread.

Let it go. No need to whip out the ole e-pecker on the virtual table and compare sizes. If you have nothing to contribute to the thread...then don’t!

Oh, they were all going 2mph with their hazards on. Even the jeeps.

Did get slowed by this bugger.

Some of the jeeps I see are exactly the ones who need to go 2mph. Bigass mud tires are garbage in snow. I'm glad they were going slow and not ending up in the ditch!
